First meeting

The group is slowly but for sure growing up and i feel like we might
be able to set up the first meeting sometime soon.
The first meeting is very important and we must find a way to make it
good if we want the group to last for long.
We can imagine the first meeting in a bar (December is coming soon and
hot chocolate is good) but we shall also wonder if this is really the
best. So I'm waiting for you suggestion.
If nothing comes up from this thread, don't worry, we'll meet in some
bars and drink hot chocolate anyway.

idea - these kinds of groups xist, put mostly for a certain fee, or in
church:)) I don't think the quantity is quality, though, even with 3-4
people you can set a certain atmosphere, and then, if it turns out
good, the good news fly fast:)), and these kinds of groups change all
the time - if everything works well - so sy leaves sy comes, that's
life. To be honest for me it's all the same where to meet: it can be
an evening to skate - you are not pressed to sit in one place and
talk, or bowling, or sg like this, just have an "alibi" activity as
well...But fun is fun, at the beginning no need to overcomplicate;)

here we are..!! I'm done with working 90 hours a week and I'll have
time to organize our first meeting. I hope you're all as excited as I
am.
So the first meeting can for example take place this coming Sunday (I
might be very tired on Saturday but that works for me if we have no
choice). Concerning this first meeting the target is of course to try
to get everyone in there.
Please, I need feedback. Who wants to come (everyone I hope), when
(can be any other day that the ones I suggested right before, and
please give a time slot), where do you feel it would be good to meet
(a not to loud bar shall be a good idea and it's been damn cold
outside these last 2 days).
I think it's gonna be a little introduction meeting and then we'll let
it go, and see if we can get along and plan further things after.
I'm really excited folks about the whole thing, so please don't wait
to answer and we'll finally all meet to practice language in a fun
way.

I'm realy sorry about that. I was also ready for this first meeting
but Christine won't be able to make it. My point here was just trying
to find an arrangment for everyone. This is really sad.
BUT BUT what we can do, because I was also really eager to see you
all today is to meet today and if things go well, go tomorrow to some
sort of museum (cite de la musique sounds great..).
Please don't go that fast, things are retty complicated to set up and
we really need everyone here...

this is all my fault and obviously I failed the first meeting since I
was alone, waiting for someone to show up. No big deal, I should have
planned this better.
Because I really want this to happen I'll try to organize a meeting
tomorrow, hoping that it'll fit everyone schedule.

No big deal, I should have planned this better. I suggest we meet
somewhere around rue de la montagne sainte genevievre. I know a bunch
of nice places around.
first one is "mellowcotton", second one is "piano vache". Both place
are nice but the piano vache is a little creepy-warm-falling apart
which makes it interesting and the music is not too loud.
By the way I think this neighborhood is good because central...
I'll be at six corner of rue Descartes and rue de la montagne sainte
genevievre, my glasses and scarf are blue...

I know it must be hard coordinating this group. You just have to set a place/time and run with it , even if only 1-2 persons come, because everyone has different schedules/different reasons. You never know.

It seems as if the timing does not work for meeting today with the
group. In order for it to be productive, we should have at least 4 or
5 people present today. How many can attend today? I think since its
rather late now that it makes sense to postpone for after the
holidays. What do you say?

6 I get to the apoitment
6.15 I go with people that showed up (or not) to the piano vache where
I'll drink a hot chocolate or a beer, dunno yet, and reading my book.
6.40 I'll get back to my place or keep on going if someone showed up.
About postponing after holidays that sounds really reasonnable but I
have a window today between 6 and 8.30 and I'd love to speak English.
About the productive thing, I'm not sure to agree with you. You can
have the greatest fun of your life with only one person.
Please don't see this as a desperate attempt to meet people, I just
miss speaking English and I can't wait any longer.

participate. Right now, it is a busy time with travel and saying

On January the 1st, 8pm the slot that gets the more OK answers will
definitely be chosen to be the first meeting. By the very same time
I'll send you all an email to confirm the first meeting.
About the group we shall all try to make everyone happy. I also think
this is a little more about friendship but that does not mean this
should not be "productive", even though I feel like this word is a
little too much of a corporate term.
This group is a language exchange group, meaning we're gonna speak
English AND French. I already thought about a bunch of way we can make
it.
I am deeply convinced this attempt will be the good one.

So far I got only 2 answers concerning the first meeting. I guess you
don't really care... I just don't know what to do.
Well, 2 people (me included...) are interested in meeting sunday the
10th at 4pm. I set this time slot as the first meeting. People
interested shall tell me by then if they wanna come.
If I don't get feed back I might just give up and that makes me very
sad.

I am still on my holidays and will be back only on 10th January night, so I can't meet then, but probably can do 2nd meeting.
I am looking forward to this meeting. Please do not give up. I agree with Thierry that I think the holidays did not help. We were all so busy. Now that we will all settle back in Paris, timing is better to scheduled.
And again, I emphasize that I don't think quantity matters of how many people show up. What matter is quality. You can have a great cultural exchange with just 1-2 persons.
