Hi folks,

Regarding the proposed opening of the laneway in the north block of Ivy/Putman/Vaughan/Bertrand, I think we're now at the stage where we should book a venue for a town hall style meeting with invitations/notices sent to:

- the residents & owners of the affected block
- the new owners at 169 Ivy and their architect
- the City: Alain Miguelez, Program Manager, Zoning and Intensification
- our local Councillor, Peter Clark
- reps from NECA and CCCC
- other interested members of the public

I am thinking the Stanley Park Fieldhouse, Thursday, 20 December at 7:00 p.m.

!!!  Can anyone give me the details on how to book the fieldhouse??  !!!

Feedback on this date and time, please.

I want to have this meeting soon (obviously), but after we get the new laneway survey results (likely mid-Dec), and before the Christmas rush, and as well as giving us time to collect and analyze the data from our recent questionnaire.

I also want there to be some time between now and the 20th for us to focus on the key questions we need to ask the City, and for the City to have a chance to research their answers. For example, a question I just sent to Alain Miguelez this morning:

        - According to the City, what is the status of the laneway - open or closed? -

Obviously, if the City says it's open (according to rules, at least, and not obviously in function for the last several decades!), then we have more homework to do.

If this time and date are fine with the majority of block residents & owners, and other invitees, then we can start thinking about agenda.

I am proposing something like this, for a two-hour meeting max (allowing for some overtime) :

____________________________________________________________________
Stanley Park Field House, Thursday, 20 December at 7:00 p.m.    (date/time TBC)
____________________________________________________________________
05 min.  7:00 - 7:05   Welcome notes and introductions of residents' reps, City rep,
local Councillor, the new owners at 169 Ivy, NECA reps and CCCC reps

15 min.  7:05 - 7:20   Presentation by the City on the general issue of laneways and parking,
a new laneway study, City's approach to densification, and finally, this specific case

10 min.  7:20 - 7:30   New owners and architect at 169 Ivy: their plan,
approvals and wishes for their new home and parking

10 min.  7:30 - 7:40   Presentation of the results/findings of the questionnaire
sent to all block residents and owners on 1 Dec

20 min.  7:40 - 8:00   Structured Q&A: reps of block owners & residents (and NECA and CCCC if they wish)
present key questions* of common interest, for responses from the City
*(these key questions to be collected, drafted and circulated ahead of time!)

25 min.  8:00 - 8:25   Unstructured Q&A and Comments:
Open floor for all block residents & owners to comment directly

15 min.  8:25 - 8:40   Unstructured Q&A and Comments:
Open floor for all local and city-wide residents (non-block residents) to comment directly

05 min.  8:40 - 8:45   Closing remarks and thanks to attendees
____________________________________________________________________
1:45 min. total, with 15 min. allowance overtime
____________________________________________________________________

Again, feedback on this agenda is welcome, and can adjust until we generally feel that we're being fair to all concerned.

If there is media interest, we also should assume some time after the meeting to brief reporters.

 Regards,

Thanks for info Joyce!

The 15th or before is too early for our meeting, methinks...

I'll try the CCCC space in the church on Mackay.

Hi folks,

FYI, the Stanley Fieldhouse is NOT available for much of Dec. due to skating, therefore, I've booked the following venue for this meeting:

Memorial Hall, next to Mackay United Church
39 Dufferin Row
Ottawa

Thursday, 20 December at 7:00 p.m.

Again, if the majority of intendees cannot make this date/time, I will look into booking another night.

Next week, when I have your feedback on this date/time, if it looks to be suitable for most people, I will send a formal invitation to all concerned.

At the meeting, there will be three tables:
- for the City rep
- for the residents' reps
- for the owners of 169 Ivy (if they accept the invitation)

There will be seating for 60, for residents of the block.

There is on-street parking near the venue (please, no parking in Avon Lane).

There will be standing room behind the floor seating for other interested members of the public.

Regards,
