Hello Steve,

My apologies for the delay in responding. I've been out with a pinched
nerve in my back, and just returned to work this morning.

To your questions:

- I don't have information on the market value of the laneway lands.
Our Real Estate group would provide that, at the time of purchase.

- On your #2 and 3 questions, again, Real Estate would be the ones
setting out the terms but it would seem reasonable that if the lane
were closed, each abutting owner would be given equal opportunity over
the half abutting their property. If one declines, then nothing would
stop the opposite owner from buying the whole width.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Hi Alain,

My house backs onto the lane and I have 3 questions regarding the
possible closing of the lane. They are;

#1) Any idea on the fair market value of the strip of lane the occupies?

#2) Would the properties owners have first opportunity to buy the lane
at the back of their properties (ie each buying half of the lane)

#3) Could one owner buy all the lane at the back of their property.

Steve Grabner,

165 Ivy cr.

Debra and Steve,

Good questions to ask, and thanks for the info.

I may just call up the City's realty office tomorrow and see if I can get some basic info on the most recent lane land sale in the city, so we can at least get a comparison.

Cheers,

David
