How to Search Layer Data – Developments

This is a tutorial on how to search for Developments Data using the Map.

Here is a great example of why you might need to search for Developments Data. Maybe you are looking for projects that have been approved, (entitled) but not started...

You can use the Search Layer Data > Developments tool on your Map to perform this search. Searching by the Development Phase and including the Status Filter should get you what you’re looking for.

Here’s how we can define the Development Phases that you might be interested in:

  • Final Plat  submitted FP Applications
  • Approved, Status=Active – Approved Preliminary Plats with possible Final Plats submitted.  We do not change the PP status to complete until all the FP phases have been recorded.
    • So for these, you might have to search active FP and eliminate those PP from your list.  This can be accomplished on the Dashboard, on your map or using output to kmz to review.
  • Entitlement, Status=Active – Submitted Preliminary Plat Applications that have not been approved yet.

Note, before we proceed, if you are trying to export a list to Excel, you will need to upgrade to the Ultimate User level. Don't forget you can temporarily Upgrade to Ultimate for 2 hours with your User Credits, by selecting the Upgrade icon in the Dashboard.

To get started, follow the steps below.

1. Login to landproDATA and launch the Map. Note, you can launch the Map by clicking on the MAP tab at the top of the page.

2. Once the map is open, find the Task Pane on the right side of the Map. From there, look for Search Layer Data. Click the drop down and select Developments. Click on the Search button.

3. The Developments pop up window should now be open at this point. From here we can customize our search parameters for the Developments Data we are looking for. We have the option of selecting either Ada or Canyon county, or we can leave it blank. Next we have the option of choosing other important info pertaining to the Project Name, Lead Agency, or File Number. We can also specify the Lot count, size, type, and acreage if necessary. For a more specified search we can then set our minimum and maximum Date fields, Phase, and Status.  Lastly, we can choose if we want to search a specific part of the map we are already zoomed in on, or if we would like to search the entire map. Once all parameters are set we can hit the Search button.

4. From the Developments Search Results, we can now select individual Projects or we have the option of selecting all of the results by clicking Check All. After selecting which Projects we want, we have the option of then Selecting and Zooming to these locations on the map by clicking on Select & Zoom.

5. After clicking on Select & Zoom, the Map should have opened. Now we should see our Developments selected and highlighted on the Map. One thing we often recommend to do first after searching for a large list is to export them to a Google Earth KMZ. This can be done via the Task Pane > Task List drop down. Once there, look for the Google Earth tool. Click on the Download KMZ button. From there we now have a shareable/visible list outside of the map, we can also email this file to a colleague etc.

6. Reminder, if we want to export this list of the selected Developments to Excel, we need to be at the Ultimate User Level. With the Developments still highlighted on our Map, go to Task Pane > Reports. Click on Developments under Reports. This will open up a new page with a list of your selected Developments.

7. From the Reports page we will see a list of our selected Developments. At the top of the page there will be an Excel icon button. Clicking on this button will allow you to download the list into an Excel sheet format.
