Map Tools - Label Selection
The map tool “Label Selection” is available for Ultimate users or by activating a
2-hour Ultimate user level session. The tool allows attaching labels to selected
features from any layer. This is similar to the “Label Parcels” tool, except
that it applies to any data layer selected on your Map. Follow the steps below to get started.
1. Login to landproDATA.

2. Upgrade your user level to Ultimate with your User Credits (**Unless you are already an Ultimate User, you can ignore this step).

3. You may need to make sure your Map Widgets are updated to use the Label Selection Tool. You can do this by heading to your Tool Preferences, enabling the tool, and saving your preferences.

4. Next you will need to launch the Map. You can access the Map immediately by clicking on the menu button for Maps or choosing which part of the Map you want to view upon launch.

5. After the Map has opened you can start looking for a location of interest to Select and use the Label Selection tool. Note, what layers you have enabled in your Layer Legend will be available for the Label Selection tool to utilize Layer Properties from each visible Layer on the Map. Once you have found an area you would like to use Label Selection on, you will need to look for the Task Pane on the right side of your screen. From there you will access the Task List drop down. In the Task List, you will click on Label Selection.

5. The Label Selection tool will have opened. You will see a drop down available that asks which layer you are interested in labeling.

6. In this example, we selected the layer for Road Centerline. After selecting the Layer, you have the option of selecting from a list of available Layer Properties, such as Street Name, which in this context is labeled as "StName". Once the Layer Property is selected, you can hit the Submit button and view the new Labeled Selection on the Map.

In the event that you might want to utilize the Plot PDF tool and the roads are not showing up clear enough/or not at all... The Label Selection tool will help your PDF look much nicer overall. First thing you might want to do is to make sure and Clear Selection. This way when you Plot the PDF the Labeled Selection will not be covered by other enabled Map Layers. Note, when plotting the PDF, make sure to select 300 DPI for the highest quality.
