Google Earth:
The Google Earth tool allows you to create a Static “Snapshot” KMZ. The KMZ is a file that will open directly in the Google Earth application. This will allow you to utilize the features offered within that application such as 3D models and more. This might be useful for anyone looking to export their work directly to Google Earth. You can download the “Snapshot” and save it for later use at your convenience. After downloading the "Snapshot" you can send this file to your colleagues with ease.
Once you have successfully downloaded the Static "Snapshot" KMZ, click on the file to open it. The default application Google Earth should launch on your computer revealing your "Snapshot". If you are having issues opening the KMZ on your computer, make sure you have downloaded and installed Google Earth Pro. If issues persist, try reinstalling Google Earth Pro.
If you are having trouble finding where your KMZ file has been downloaded/saved, follow the below steps to check/modify your Google Chrome browser settings. Chrome will sometimes get setup to default your downloads to a specific download folder or other location. You can change the way Chrome downloads things by going to your Chrome browser settings.
1. To access Chrome Settings, look at the top right corner of your browser window and click on the three dots to access a drop down menu. From there you can click on Settings.
2. Once the Settings page has opened, scroll down and click on the Advanced option.
3. Once the Advanced section has opened, scroll down and look for Downloads. From here you have the option of changing the browser settings to always ask you where to save a file when you click download. You also have the option of setting where you want your downloads to always save.
