Meanwhile, a disaster of epic proportions is shaping up in the Gulf of
Mexico due to the flow of oil from the damaged well head 5000ft below
the surface of the ocean of the now destroyed oil rig that blew up
last week.

east Texas has left a woman dead and a man seriously burned.

Rusk County Justice of the Peace Jerdy Wolverton says the cause of the
explosion early Monday near New London is sought.

Wolverton identified the woman who died as 24-year-old Melissa Helsel
of New London.

The Rusk County Sheriff's Office says an injured man was airlifted to
LSU Medical Center in Shreveport. His condition was not immediately
available.

Wolverton told The Associated Press that the man suffered burns.

Wolverton says the storage tank was believed to have been empty, but
fumes might have been present. He says emergency crews put out the
fire.

New London is about 120 miles southeast of Dallas.
