Farm Fresh Rhode Island is a 501c3 non-profit organization. The FY2011
operating budget of Farm Fresh programs is approximately $2.25
million. More information and a full list of programs can be found at

Job Function/Purpose of Role:
Reporting to the Executive Director (ED) and partnering with the
Program Director (PD), the primary role of the Managing Director is to
develop earned-income operations in a way that advances the Farm Fresh
mission and maximizes our resources.

As a member of the senior leadership team, the Managing Director acts
as an advisor to team members, the ED and the Board of Directors in
the evaluation of Farm Fresh’s financial plans and economic modeling.

The Managing Director is responsible for many aspects of the
organization and partnering with the ED and PD in the development of
Farm Fresh’s long-term business plans. This position manages the
Business Manager, Markets Coordinator and their teams.

Primary Responsibilities:
Communications & Strategy
• Work with ED and PD on long-range organizational strategy
• Ensure every aspect of Farm Fresh programs connects with and
communicates our mission
• Provide staff with the training and resources to think big
picture
in their daily work
• Work with ED and PD to promote a consistent brand and message
for Farm Fresh
• Work with ED and PD to analyze and evaluate programs, and
communicate our results internally and publicly
• Develop strategic partnerships to promote Farm Fresh, its
programs
and partners
• Work with program staff to provide consistent content and
imagery
for Farm Fresh communications
• Be able to represent Farm Fresh at conferences, events and
with the media

Financial Management:
• Oversee and analyze budget and financials
• Provide support to Business Manager in implementing QuickBooks
chart
of accounts, cash management, bank accounts, credit card systems,
Paypal and reconciliations
• Manage program income tracking and reporting to Board and ED,
program leaders and funders
• Work in conjunction with PD to prepare budgets and format
financial
information for grant applications
• Work with Board, ED and Business Manager to develop budget and
cash
flow projections

Human Resources:
• Optimize organizational structure towards effective operations
that
fulfill our mission
• Work with ED and PD to develop and maintain job descriptions
for all staff
• Oversee hiring processes and interviews
• Partner with ED and PD on staff evaluation processes

Staff Support and Supervision
• Meet with managed staff one on one and in small groups to
analyze
programs and develop best practices
• Define program metrics and monitor their progress
• Review financial information specific to programs and prepare
budgets with program leaders

General Business Management:
• Manage risk and oversee insurance policies for all aspects of
the organization
• Handle miscellaneous licenses and reports as necessary
(Secretary of
State, Dept. of Health, Dept. of Labor, etc.)

Education, Knowledge and Experience Required:
A minimum of a Bachelors degree. Candidates should posses a passion
for the Farm Fresh mission, be a hands-on manager with integrity and a
have desire to work in a dynamic environment. Farm Fresh is a growing,
collaborative, creative and flexible organization and ideal candidates
are proactive with a strong service mentality.

Critical skills include: effective oral and written communications,
financial acumen, strong analytical thinking and experience in
interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model. Experience
with financial accounting software is required. Personnel management
experience is required. Previous non-profit experience is desired.

Hours:
Full time, flexible hours with most hours worked during normal
business hours. Early morning, evening and weekend work may be
required.

Salary & Benefits:
Salary is $42,900 with health benefits and paid vacation and holidays,
plus opportunities for education and professional development.
