Hello all,

I'm sorry to report that a bug has been found in LANDIS-II version 8. The model is not appropriately tracking biomass for each cohort at the landscape scale, at least in NECN and DGS. I haven't tested other succession extensions yet.

Please recognize that the biomass values that you obtain from your simulations are likely incorrect until we resolve this issue. We will work diligently to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

Best,
Melissa

All,

The bug has been resolved.  To eliminate the bug, you will need to install to the latest versions of available succession extension(s).

The error was in the new Universal Cohort Library (UCL).   More information can be found here:  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1y_zW1inqNO85QVUvBQB4J3x1FM9hWMgSloUnS_ktxNQ/edit?usp=sharing

Not all extensions were affected and if the release date remains 'October 2024' then that extension was unaffected.

If you encounter further errors that indicate an issue with Cohorts, likely that extension simply needs to be rebuilt.  Having said that, all software contains bugs and it's not impossible to find others.  Please contact the individual developer if/when you find any bugs in a particular extension.

Cheers,

Rob
