Seeking Advice on Running a LANDIS-II v7 Project with v8 Installed

Hello everyone,

I’ve been trying to replicate a project that was originally run using LANDIS-II v7 and ran into a few issues I could use some advice on.

I first attempted to run it using LANDIS-II v8, updating the extension names in the scenario file to match the new version. However, I realized that the input file structures have changed between versions and would require significant adjustments. To avoid that, I decided to run it using v7 instead.

Since I already had v8 installed, I wasn’t able to install v7 directly on my machine. I installed v7 in a sandbox environment and tried running the simulation from there, but encountered an OutOfMemory error. I’m not sure if that issue is specific to the sandbox setup or something else.

Would you recommend uninstalling v8 temporarily and installing v7 directly? Could that create issues when reinstalling v8 later?

Hello,

You can easily go back/forth between versions if you uninstall versions of LANDIS, but you'll also need to ensure that the correct *.NET file is used for each version.
