Hello LANDIS-II Community,

I recently started working on a LANDIS research project that is focusing on monitoring biomass from salvage harvesting sites post-insect disturbance. Based on the Base-Harvest user guide description there is an option for post-fire and post-wind salvage harvesting but not for BDA events. I have novice experience with LANDIS but was wondering if anyone could provide some advice on if/how to setup a specific harvesting prescription to achieve site harvesting after BDA disturbance.

Thanks in advance for any help, much appreciated.

Hi
You don't mention which Succession extension you're using. The Forest Carbon Succession extension allows you a lot of flexibility in how disturbances are handled. For example, you could have ForCS transfer trees killed by the BDA extension transferred to the forest product sector (ie the carbon leaves the ecosystem)

all the best

You could also look at Magic Harvest, which pauses LANDIS and reloads Harvest inputs after running a script. You could write a short script that loads BDA output maps and generates a new harvest management zone map based on disturbed areas.
