stump and slash harvest

Hi,

I was wondering whether it is possible to incorporate stump and slash harvesting in LANDIS-II. As far as I am aware it is currently not? But how straightforword would it be to create an extension for that I wonder? I am writing a funding proposal right now, hence my question.

Do you mean going into a site that's already been harvested for stump and slash? Or could it be one event?

If you use the Forest Carbon Succession extension and Base Harvest you can harvest merchantable wood biomass, other wood biomass (tops, stumps, branches and small trees).  You can also harvest deadwood pools: coarse woody debris, stem snags and snag other wood.

I don't know of any way to get Base Harvest to target an event on a site that's already been harvested, but that doesn't mean its not possible. :)

Hi,

We created a "biomass" version of Century Succession for LANDIS-II. This allows you to specify what size class small wood to leave behind. I never thought about a second harvest entry to do it, but it seems it might be done. Also, we thought about stump removal, but they aren't doing it here yet.
