NECN data type error

Hi LANDIS developers,

I'm working on setting up an Ubuntu installation of LANDIS II Core v8 + NECN + Social Climate Fire in an apptainer using Clément's instructions. I've been able to get all the extensions to compile and can get core LANDIS to run, but the NECN test scenario is failing with the following message:

Error while loading the plug-in:
  Cannot get the data type that implements the plug-in:
    Data type:  Landis.Extension.Succession.NECN.PlugIn,Landis.Extension.Succession.NECN-v8
    Error:      No data type with that name is installed.

I was able to find this closed GitHub issue for a similar error but it's not clear to me how it got fixed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Thomas ! Clément here 😄

I've been having many issues with v8 so far, but not this one 🤔.

I've been working on Dockerfiles (e.g. files that basically contains all of the commands used to create a Docker Image, that you can then use with Docker or transform into an apptainer) for LANDIS-II v7 and v8. I'll put them online soon.

You can find the most complete Dockerfile I have for v8 at this link : Clean_Docker_LANDIS-II_8_AllExtensions.zip . Using the commands in it, I don't get this error with NECN; but I get another error (described in this issue) for all types of succession extensions (including NECN).

Maybe this will help you bypass this issue. In my case, v8 will need to cook a bit more in the oven before we start using it 😄 !
