Tyre size for 1800

The factory specified size for MKII and X6 is 165R14. Whilst available as very heavy duty commercial the only one passenger car tyre readily available in Australia is $220, a Vredenstein.

What sizes do people use please?

My car currently has 185R14 which look and are too big.

175/75R14 is available and is within 0.24% of the OD of 165R14.

I had wanted to keep original look with 165s. Seems strange as this size was used on Peugeot, BMW, Audi etc.
