Hi All
I have just acquired a Mk2 Auto with 54000m on the clock from new,
excellent condition except for.....
It will not change out of D1 when driving. From page L-29 of the BMC
manual, second point (No second ratio (D2, L2)) seems to be about what
the problem is.
The recommendations are:
5. Check front band adjustment
7. Check front servo seals and fit to pipes.
11. Strip valve bodies and clean
The transmission fluid is as full as it is supposed to be (it
wasn't...) but the problem persists.
Is there a check I can carry out to see with more accuracy what the
problem is?
Is this a job that a competent home mechanic can take on? I have NEVER
played with an auto before, but have rebuilt a manual (in a '70's
Capri, not a Crab)
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Pete
