Hi Steve & Colin  (cc Claire for info)

This came in on an email to BDS centrally, so I wondered if it might be of interest to either of you or those local BDS members that you're in touch with.

Subject: Lancaster City Park Bioblitz - Workshop for potential partners, 2pm, Thursday 6th March 2013

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Lancaster City Park Bioblitz – Workshop for potential partners   - 2:00pm, Thursday 6th March, The Storey (Auditorium), Meeting House Lane , Lancaster

Following the Beyond the Castle activities in 2012 and the continuation of the feasibility study, it is proposed to hold a BIoblitz on the Lancaster City Park site on Saturday 18th May 2013.  For those of you who aren’t familiar with the City Park , a plan showing the site boundary is attached above

The Bioblitz event is intended to help map the ecology and wildlife of the City Park as well as continuing to involve the local community in developing the future of the area.   It is likely to involve a range of activities that can include anything from identifying birds at dawn, to bats at dusk, and many other events in between.  Further information regarding what a Bioblitz is and why we are looking at carrying one out at Lancaster City Park , is attached above.

We are in the process of developing the details of the activities for the Bioblitz but to do this we need the help of partners and individuals who may be able to contribute resources, time or ideas to make the day enjoyable and informative for all those taking part.   If you are interested in having an input into developing the activities that will run as part of the Bioblitz, a workshop is being held at 2pm on Thursday 6th March in The Auditorium at The Storey, Meeting House Lane , Lancaster .

For those who can’t make this event but are still interested in contributing towards the day please contact Faiyaz Laly on 01772 (5) 35928 or e-mail Faiyaz.laly@lancashire,gov.uk

For anyone else who just wants to take part in the Bioblitz, we will keep you informed once details of the event have been finalised.

I would be grateful if you could confirm if you plan to attend the event on the 6th March by e-mailing Faiyaz Laly at the e-mail address above.

We look forward to seeing you on the day.

Kind Regards

Faiyaz Laly (Bioblitz Co-ordinator), Roy Halliday and Lucia Marquart (Lancaster City Park Feasibility Stage Project Managers)

Hi everyone,

Let's hope for a more productive year in 2013.

Please keep your records coming in.

The easiest way of doing this is to use Living Record.

But if you prefer not then please continue to send records to me - preferably as Excel spreadsheets.

All the best,

Steve.
