But there was a male in VC 59 in North Merseyside at Lunt Meadows on 17-24 May 2020 and unconfirmed but probable records at Martin Mere in 2011 and Brookhouse (SD56) in 2020.

After last year's record at Amberswood Common in Wigan, which I thought might prove to be a one-off, I received another record a week or so back of one at Red Moss, Horwich then more recently of another at Amberswood, suggesting they bred there last year.
And today - a perfect photograph of one in a garden in Blackpool! Attached.
Something appears to be going on.
Steve.
And yet again photographed in a garden. The third for Lancs as i recall (will check). All have been males and in Blackpool. Surely no coincidence? Suspect they may be breeding on a less-visited site. Perhaps on farmland.
No records from Amberswood Common in Wigan yet this year where we think they may have bred last year. But weather has been awful.
Steve.
