It is uplifting to share food and stories with old friends and to meet new people interested in building a world that respects the natural order.
Alas, due to Covid, it is regrettable that we haven’t had a single Open House this year. We hope that by next Spring we will be able to invite you all to visit.
Nonetheless, it has not been an idle year. With the help of a few long-time friends who came by to help with gardening, milling lumber and gathering dead-wood for a future garden, and the help of our one Workaway, we have accomplished much.
The new picture essay at:
will show you highlights.
Catalpa seedlings:
Among the pictures you will see one of our Catalpa tree in full bloom and one of its wonderful flowers. We have saplings of these beautiful trees to give away if you have room for such a plant.
Another link of possible interest is to a "Living on Earth as if We Want to Stay" talk recorded recently, which is now posted at:
It covers underlying opportunities and concerns, which led to this Ecovillage project. It also outlines alternative economic perspectives which can help us move toward sustainability as a society.
The annual turnaround:
We hope you are well as we move into Winter. For the ray of hope that it provides, remember that the afternoons which presently go dark around here around 4:30, will start to get longer after December 10th. The mornings will continue to get shorter, but we will start, ever so slowly, to increase the amount of time we can enjoy daylight in the afternoons.
The big turnaround will have begun.
May the observations and celebrations that have long helped northern peoples keep their spirits up during the dark season serve you and those you love.
We sincerely hope that we will see you at an Open House in the Spring. Together, we can explore and celebrate the possibilities for coming through the present challenges to meet the future in good form.
Looking forward,
Mike & Claire

On a good day one can sense, through the fog of our world’s problems, a faint light. A glimmer of a place where humans live in balance with the Earth and with each other.
Viewed from the challenges of today, that place seems to be another dimension. And it is. The values by which people manage themselves are dimensions of worlds we might build. This alternate dimension can be entered through More Fun, Less Stuff.
