USESREZI-WELD 3/2 grout-patch kit is ideal for a variety of construction grouting and patching repair projects. As an epoxy grout, it can be readily poured under base plates or used for anchoring bolts. When applied as a concrete patch, the patching mix serves as a brushed-on primer. The use of a finishing trowel completes the patching application while the primer is still tacky.

PRECAUTIONS

Do not dilute. Addition of solvents will prevent proper curing. Surface temperatures must be between 40 F and 90 F (4 C to 32 C). As temperature decreases, flow will also decrease. Cold material may need to be pushed, rodded, or chained to achieve proper placement. Keep container tightly closed until ready for use.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Unused epoxy will generate excessive heat, especially in large quantities. Unused epoxy should be mixed with dry sand in a container to help lower the heat. Refer to Material Safety Data Sheet for complete health and safety information.

PERMACOLOR Grout is a high-performance, fast-setting polymer-fortified grout that provides a tile grout joint that is dense and hard. PERMACOLOR Grout is color-consistent and features built-in Microban antimicrobial protection to keep the grout surface looking newer for longer.

Flexible, multipurpose cementitious grout for grouting joints up to 20 mm wide between ceramic and porcelain tiles, porcelain stoneware, slabs, mosaics and natural stones. Water-repellent and anti-efflorescence with high colour-fast properties, keeps the joint full and even. For interiors and exteriors.

Flo-Grout 2 is pre-mixed, pre-packed chloride free cementitious grout. It contains cement, selected additives, well graded, and non-reactive aggregates and is designed to give excellent flow properties, shrinkage compensation, frost resistance, and high compressive strength.

The size of grout lines for tile is something that comes up with just about every tile installation and is a question we are asked almost every day. While we definitely have recommendations for grout size for each Fireclay product line, there really is no set width requirement.

The size of your tile should be considered when choosing a grout size. In general, there is more size variation in larger-sized handmade tiles so they need a bigger grout joint for that to be less noticeable and to achieve a more even installation.

Where you are installing your tile should also be considered when choosing your grout size. For example, floor installations should consider using larger grout lines for more traction. Also, grout size should be considered when there is a difference in the angle of a surface.

If your surface is not level, the grout will slope from one tile to another. You should also keep in mind that when tiling over a corner, your grout joint will open up, and when tiling into a recess, the top of the grout joint will narrow.

Finished grout lines will vary from 1/16" to 3/16". However, the actual finished grout spacing will vary from 1/8" to 1/4" if 3/16" spacers are used. If smaller spacers, like 1/8", are used it will accentuate the size difference of handmade tile. Note that using the smallest grout joint possible will increase installation time.

3/8" grout space is the industry standard for Glazed Thin Brick. With brick, you will need to know ahead of time what grout space you intend on installing as that will affect how much overage you should order to complete your project.

A rectified edge allows for smaller grout lines because the tile has been more precisely cut (unlike our other handmade tiles). There is less irregularity with rectified tiles, so less spacing is needed between each piece. A tight, 1/8" grout space will allow the pattern to flow nicely from one tile to the next.

We recommend a 1/16" grout size for our Glass Tile. Glass has clean edges allowing for a tight install. We do not recommend installing any of our products tighter than 1/16," but you can always go larger.

This is why your tile installer may suggest a larger grout line for a straighter, more professional-looking installation. It is an aesthetic decision whether to go slightly larger or tighter. Today it's very trendy to have minimal grout space-- but that isn't always the best option for handmade tile.

Keep in mind that grout serves a purpose-- to fill in voids, make things straight, and also relieve stress. If the grout line is too tight the tile could chip at stress points once the grout dries. Stress from home settling may also be an issue with little grout space.

The following tool estimates the total number of tiles necessary to cover a floor, roof, wall, or any other surface. It also considers the gap or overlap between tiles for better accuracy, as shown in the figure below.

Floor or wall tiles are typically installed with gaps between the tiles because the average tile may look quite similar to the next tile, but they are often not uniform in shape and size, and would not fit properly if installed without any gaps. These gaps are most commonly filled with grout, and as such, are often referred to as grout size, or grout lines. Grout is a form of concrete, and the gap between tiles can range from anywhere between one-sixteenth of an inch to half an inch in size. Different sized tiles, materials, and design needs all affect the size of the gaps. Although it is typically more difficult to have small gaps between tiles due to lack of a uniform shape and size, the use of rectified tiles (tiles that undergo additional processing to ensure that they are uniform) can allow for smaller spacing, though at an additional cost. For more uniformly cut tiles such as granite, smaller grout spacing can result in less visibility of grout lines between each tile.

In some cases, such as with roofing tile or the wood siding of a wall, rather than having a gap between them, tiles overlap to prevent leakage. The tile calculator can account for both of these situations. Either enter a positive value if there is a gap between the tiles being used, or a negative value if the tiles overlap.

Tile size can range anywhere from smaller mosaics that are 3/8", to 24" 48" slab tiles and everything in between. Square sizes (same width and length) are the most popular, accessible, and easiest to install. While straight edge tiles (rectangular, square, parallelogram) are the most common, unique tile shapes also exist, though installation is not as easy. Large tile sizes can make smaller rooms appear bigger, as well as more open and clean because there are fewer grout lines. However, installing larger tiles results in more wastage, while using smaller tiles can help add texture to a room.

There are a number of different classifications of tiles, including ceramic, porcelain, glass, quarry, and stone. Ceramic and porcelain tiles are the most cost efficient, and come in a variety of different styles. Glass tiles, while not appropriate for flooring because they crack under pressure, are visually unique and interesting; they are most commonly used for kitchen and bathroom backsplashes. Quarry tiles have rough surfaces that are good for floors that require grip, and are commonly used outdoors and in restaurant kitchens. Stone tiles include marble and granite, which provide unique and natural stone patterns, textures, and colors that are difficult to achieve using ceramics. They also offer the illusion of blending into grout edges, giving off an overall uniform look.

There are many different patterns used when installing tiles. The most common pattern used is a linear grid, with square or rectangular tiles, or a pattern involving angled squares or rectangles that form a typical diamond shape.

cl recommends using mortar and sanded cementitious grout or pointing mortar that comply with the ANSI A118 or ISO 13007 classifications suitable for your project. Please consult with your installation professional to make these determinations.

grout color selection is always up to our client and/or their design professional. however, cl is often asked for our opinion on best grout selections for our tiles. and due to the large array of grout colors that are now available, cl would like to offer this general guideline on a foolproof grout color selection for any of your cl tiles.

lastly, choose a time of day when you are most pleased with the lighting in your space (either natural lighting, installed lighting or a blend of both). during that lighting and time of day, select the grout color that best matches your tile selection.

Tile grout is a material used to fill in the gaps between the tiles to avoid dirt and liquid from coming in. When installing tiles, we place the tiles with gaps between each other to decrease the chances of future cracking or lifting off of tiles due to thermal or structural deformation of the floor or wall, tile expansion, or tile movement. Using tile grout also adds to the aesthetics of a tile installation, especially of ceramic tiles, like in this picture:

Grout, in general, is a composite material which is typically a mixture of cement, lime, and water, and can also contain sand just like concrete and mortar. You can check our cement calculator to learn more about these other mixtures. But you can also visit our concrete calculator and our mortar calculator if you want to read more about their applications.

Some grouts are made of epoxy and polymers; these types of grout are best for areas that need high-resistance to moisture and chemicals. With that said, we can either get dry pre-mixed cementitious grout in bags or in 2-part bottles with epoxy hardener and resin.
