Several houses on Johnson Street are very old and historic. One was
the home of Capt. J. McCutcheon as shown on the 1877 property's
owners' map. The one next door to McCutcheon's is the Victorian on the
corner of Johnson and ??? ( I think it is Morgan). Several other old
houses that have not burned appear to have been used as boarding
houses. Across the street you will find some early 1900s cottages, one
which was the last home place of Al Gore's grandmother's home. It is a
wonderful area of mostly preserved old houses, and the home owners
need to be encouraged to maintain the history of the street.
