(I apologize if you are receiving this multiple times, but I wanted to get this posting out from JPD)

We've received a report that an outfit calling itself the "Tennessee Police Federation" or something like the "Certified Police Fund" is calling area residents from 1-800-609-0210 (may not be only number to show up on caller ID) soliciting donations.  The caller is NOT soliciting on behalf of the Jackson Police Department and the Department does not support or endorse "Tennessee Police Federation" or receive funds from them in any way.

Although they appear to be a registered charity with the Tennessee Department of State, their record of revenue and expenses cause us concern.

THIS SHOULD NOT BE CONFUSED with the upcoming "Shop with a Cop" fund raiser sponsored by the local lodge of the  Charles W. Wooten Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #7 which will begin 11/03/2008.  The fund raisers will identify themselves as calling on behalf of our local lodge for Shop With a Cop...........
