"Stick to the Status Quo" is a song from the Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical. The song also appears on the soundtrack by the same name. It is sung by the minor cast of High School Musical after it is discovered that Troy Bolton, the protagonist of the film and captain of the school's varsity basketball team, auditioned for the winter musical Twinkle Towne. The song was also included in performances of High School Musical: The Concert,[1] and its live album (2007).[2] The song expresses frustration at the social hierarchy known as cliques for not allowing individuals from different cliques to interact or share interests, therefore the characters' verses challenge the status quo while the song's chorus defends it.

During the audition scene of the first episode, I was stunned by the number of East High students that could do a high kick and belt their way to Broadway. The musical numbers avoid awkward flash-mob outbreaks that are common in musicals and the songs are original and beautifully sung.

The song "Stick to the Status Quo" from the High School Musical Cast encourages its listeners to stick to the things they know and not try anything new or different. The song tells the story of various high school students who have secret passions or hobbies that don't fit into their usual social roles and are afraid to be judged or ridiculed by their peers if they reveal them. However, they ultimately find the courage to speak up and share their interests.

Smith and Capone have weak moments alone on the stage, but when they sing together they both get stronger and more confident. Beck and Osvold prove why they have shone so strongly in high school productions and even the supporting cast has strong performances, including Drew Arvin as the pastry-loving Zeke Baylor and Brett Rochford as the fashion-forward Alan.

"Stick to the Status Quo" is the 5th song in High School Musical and on the movie soundtrack. This song is about everyone telling their secrets. Zeke is baking, Martha Cox loves hip-hop, and a skater dude named Ripper plays the cello. Throughout the song, each group tells how the rebel should "stick to the status quo". Sharpay chimes in too, saying "this is not what she planned." Ryan then sings with her, stating that he could not agree more. Gabriella and Taylor then make ther way through the lunch room. Gabriella slips on a spilt milk container, and sends her nachos flying directly onto Sharpay's chest, causing Sharpay to scream.

Victoria Boyce, director and choreographer of High School Musical, with the help of assistant director Jon McClaran is choosing not to stick to the status quo. Instead, they are putting a few spins on the already head-bopping original.

The actor played Jimmie "The Rocket Man" Zara, the Troy Bolton wannabe who just joined the East High basketball team and takes Troy's place last minute for the number "Just Want To Be With You" in the school's musical.
