The Los Angeles Media Reform Group (http://lamediareform.org) encourages community activists and grassroots media makers to present their ideas at its fifth annual LA Media Reform “Media for the 99%” Summit, scheduled for Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Occidental College.
“We’re looking for people who are excited about empowering people to utilize the media, fight for social justice, and preserve our democracy through a variety of tools, outlets and approaches,” said Amanda Shaffer, the group’s chair.

The day-long event features panel sessions, speakers, and networking. We’re looking for several types of interactive breakout sessions this year:

Please contact us with questions about the event and especially if you have an interesting workshop topic, but aren’t sure if it will fit. A key selection criterion this year will be how you can help bring an audience to our summit and your workshop.
The Los Angeles Media Reform Group focuses on holding news outlets accountable to the public interest and encouraging community members to create their own media, and to be critical consumers of the mass media.
