Apologies for any cross-posting. At the Lambeth Climate Emergency - Inventing the Solutions event in November a number of working groups were formed, including Energy, Transport, Consumption and Waste, Lambeth Procurement, and Rewilding. If you're interested in joining any of them contact me to be put in touch. 

The Buildings and Housing Group is meeting this Monday. Please join, bring friends, circulate your networks, share the Facebook event. Energy group members may like to come. 25% of our emissions come from buildings. Lambeth owns ~25% of housing in Lambeth. Huge opportunities for carbon saving, better health and wellbeing and money saving. 

November Monday 27 January, 6.30pm for 7pm start, Open Project Night, at the Impact Hub Brixton, back of Pop Brixton, 49 Brixton Station Road, SW9 8PQ. Please join. Food provided at 6.30pm. ALL WELCOME. We all use buildings!

This meeting will decide what the group wants to focus on over the coming months.
See notes from the initial meeting including some of the projects they may decide to focus on. Already a member has given feedback on Lambeth's Housing Stock Condition Survey. Initial work may focus on helping improve the Building and Housing section of Lambeth's Corporate Carbon Reduction Plan (pages 2,5,6 and 7). They are also interested in updating and improving best practice guidance on refurbishment that TTB prepared in 2013 for Lambeth's £500m refurbishment programme. Sadly the guidance wasn't followed.

Thank you all for coming to the Lambeth Climate Emergency - Inventing the Solutions event. It was a prime example of the genius of the community in action. We formed the following groups to discuss solutions: Buildings/housing, Energy, Transport, Consumption and Waste, Rewilding and Nature and Procurement. The write up from the groups is here and makes for inspiring reading. Please do check our write up and clarify, correct or comment as necessary. If you want to add ideas please do so but use the 'suggestions' editing mode so that we notice the changes. TTB's response to the Lambeth Borough Plan consultation, complete with a vision for 2022, is at the bottom of the write-up.

Thanks too, to Lambeth Councillors, officers and particularly Hannah Jameson, head of the Climate Emergency team at Lambeth who came and took extensive notes.

We will communicate this write-up to the Climate and continue to support the groups in actions they undertook to pursue. We will also continue to look at the Lambeth Carbon Reduction Plan and feedback specifically on it. If you have specific feedback we can forward or you can write direct to hjam...@lambeth.gov.uk. We will also look at our visions and pull out projects that are particularly relevant to urgent carbon reduction. We will continue to work with the XR Beyond Politics Group and Political Circle and support the Citizens’ Assembly process. We are also collaborating on a large Climate Action Fund funding bid. Notes from the last call are here. We had a great first Virtual Open Project Night on Monday 22nd. Notes of that are here. Please diary Monday 20 July 7pm for the next one, focussing on Ensuring justice in our local economic recovery. We will be working with the Save Nour campaign and other local stakeholders to support a people-led local recovery that is fair, green, supports valued local businesses and prevents a corporate take-over of our high street.
