Hello LAMA Members and friends:

This month’s meeting will be at Ed Lancaster’s shop in Abita Springs, LA.  There’s plenty of room to set up your forge and we can expect a delicious lunch, but if you care to bring a side dish; chips; or a dessert, it would be greatly appreciated.  We’ll have Iron in the Hat at 2:00pm, so a donated item to the table will be appreciated.  The proceeds from the IITH will go to offset the expenses incurred by our host for putting on a great lunch and opening up his shop for the clubs.

LAMA Events:

1)  November 17th (Saturday) NuNu’s Barn Repair day in Arnaudville, LA.  We are once again going to meet at NuNu’s (weather permitting) to continue repairing the barn.  Please bring any carpentry tools that you have.  We have a good stock pile of wood….we just need the muscle.  Will start at 8:30am

2)  December 1st, (Saturday) LAMA has a full day of demo.  This will be a whole day event at Richard Delahoussaye’s shop located at 318 Hector Connoly Rd. Carencro, LA 70520.  An Iron Smelt AND Anvil Repair demo will be going on all day.  For those that have wanted to see how we obtain wrought iron from iron ore this is your chance.  And for those that need to repair their anvils, this’ll give you a great opportunity to observe the steps and ask questions.  Will start around 9:00am or so.

Also note that our December meeting at David Bernard’s shop in Broussard, LA has been changed from Sunday to Saturday, December 8th.

More details will be sent out and posted on the website.

David,

I'm hoping that after I retire I can participate with LAMA. Attached is a flyer to remind folks of the auction. I have several small lots of solid bars and flats that would be great for forging parts. I'm sure they will go much cheaper than one could buy at a supply ctr. There are a lot of tools and machines that will go at reasonable prices. No reserve!  Please print a copy(s) for the meeting Sat. Hope you have a good turn out and an enjoyable time.
