Thank you for visiting my website. I am an American voice coach based in London. I specialise in helping actors prepare for an American role or simply to become morecomfortable with an American accent and dialect. Originally I am from California and I have lived in New York City as well. Upon moving to London, I trained as a voice coach at the Central School ofSpeech and Drama. Since then I have taught in both New York and London.

As an American accent and dialect teacher I know how important it is to prepare the right American accent that will best serve the character's needs. Having the right accent can help the actor soundmore authentic. American accent lessons are available for General American/Standard American as well as regional accents, such as the American Southern accent or the New York City Accent. Coaching isalso available for getting the time period of the accent right.

Often actors are required to speak with a contemporary non-regional American accent, otherwise know as General American. With my native ear I can help you with the nuances of General American. Ipassionately believe that voice and speech can help unlock a performance and thereby support an actor's choices. I use drills, muscle training, ear training and physicalisation of sounds to help theactor find an ease with the accent that doesn't interfere with their performance. Coaching sessions are done online.

Before the session you are invited to send me any relevant material or recordings. During the session you will received personalized notes on scripts as well as a shared Google Doc summarizing our session.

The 10-session American Leap is a tailored program for actors making the leap into the American market. This personalized work takes actors already established in their native language to start landing roles in American productions.

Before the session you will be asked to send a recording of yourself in the accent. From that starting point the program is designed around you mastering an authentic American accent in performance. You may receive coaching on sound changes, accent musicality or mouth setting. The Intensive emphasizes using the accent on an array of texts and in free speech.

2. Once scheduled, you are invited to send me any recordings, scripts, materials or showreels that you feel are important before the session. I may also invite you to make a short recording for me. This will help both you and me prepare for your session, and allow us to track progress together.

3. You may be asked to chat over the phone before starting a longer program. You may also be asked fill out my short form detailing what your goals are and any accent or voice work you have done in the past. A link is sent before our first session.

The singing was outstanding, the actors perfect, the set design creative and engaging. As you might recall, the story is about Eliza Doolittle, a poor flower girl from the East side of London. She speaks with a strong Cockney accent.

Amazingly, in a short time, Eliza begins speaking with the accent Professor Higgins desires, and all is well. She not only does it for a few phrases, but in very short order her spontaneous speech, as well, is flawless!

Lest you think I am a bit of a curmudgeon, let me reassure you that I am not. I love My Fair Lady. I can sing most of the songs and play them on the piano frequently (my favorite is On The Street Where You Live).

Auditory discrimination can improve with careful explanation and practice. Description of articulator positions and movements during sound production can be a useful method, as well. From neuroscience we also have learned much more about how the brain creates new automatic habits, which can be applied to speech training.

While we can learn many new things on-line nowadays by ourselves, learning new speech behaviors still requires feedback from a trained teacher in real-time to elicit the best results. There is, as yet, no substitute for a trained human ear giving feedback to a student.
