Theintrusive voice of OCD that masquerades as the voice of God will constantly demand that we do something to prove our love and loyalty to Him. This voice might come several times a day, several times an hour, or even more frequently. It will come in subtle ways and in the most embarrassing ways.

For example, some people with scrupulosity may feel compelled to kneel down in the middle of a parking lot to pray in a loud and obnoxious way. We may behave inappropriately in social contexts just to please the voice in our mind. However, these behaviors have no true evangelistic function; they neither honor God nor draw people to Him.

We must not live under condemnation or feel that we are always on trial. This is a denial of the beautiful salvation we have in Christ. To keep ourselves on trial is to resist the freedom He offers us, as He declared,

In fact, what we find in Scripture is that God invites us to prove Him, not the other way around! Listen to the glittering promises of God in Malachi 3. The people were not sure that giving their tithes and offerings to God would really have any tangible payout, so God invited them to test and prove Him. He said:

Let us remember that God created us as strong, noble beings made in His image, not predetermined robots. When God created Adam and Eve, He gave them dominion over the earth, inviting Adam to share in His creative ability by naming the animals. God could have sat Adam down to teach him the names of the animals that He had already decided; but this is not what He did. God is not interested in micromanaging us. He wants us to exercise our creative ability and make intelligent decisions.

I know the guilty feelings and the voice of pseudo-conviction is loud and bothersome. Ignoring these impressions can be very difficult. It can fill us with insecurity about whether or not we are doing the right thing. But I encourage you: this is the most important thing you can do for nurturing a healthy relationship with God.

Some people have tried to whittle this verse down to mean that God wants us to only desire Him, and when all other desires are stripped away, He will fulfill our single desire by giving Himself to us.

This is about prioritization, not about earnestly trying to negate all other desires and wishes in life. God first, and everything else after that. And yes, God will give us every possible wish that will be in our best interest. Like any loving parent, He wants to give us as much as would be healthy for our growth. He is not an evil parent, taking away our favorite toys just to make us cry.

If you are the type to chastise yourself for having preferences, or if you actively self-sabotage when God tries to give you good things, you may wish to rethink this part of your life. Believe it or not, God does involve our heart as He guides us.

YES YES and YES! Thank you soooo very very much for this information. I struggle with this and it gets so bad at times and i feel like giving up in my walk because of how discouraging and confusing these thoughts can be in my every day life. You gave me so much hope with this article. Thank you and may God bless you for what you did here! Definitely bookmarked this for later use!

thank you so much it's just the thought popped out of no where while I was worrying about death saying you need to get right with god so I automatically was like "is that god telling me something is about to happen to me? since the thought did not feel like my own I have been so scared and crying especially because people say that god gives warnings when it's someone's time to go and I didn't know if that was true?

I don't know how to fill about this and my comment might change later. I have struggled with god voice since I was a child, tormented by it! Seems like the advice you give of what God's voice actually is has to be treaded with carefulness, that it makes the idea of wanting to hear His voice like a game/ or a puzzle. At any moment your responsioble for getting it wrong and you have to deal with the cnsequences. I think the problem is being in too much services and Bible Studies, denominations where they make God's voice and commands like how they were long dialouges with the prophets, or odd task like when God ask Abraham to sacrifice his son as a test. Soemtimes even something as doing something for a promise, like moving to an unknown territory in order to recieve from God(Abraham and his decesdants) Or like how He promised Abraham and Sarah a child at their old age! They use these examples to bring it into modern day Christianity and have a slew of videos about "God is telling you do this!" " Be obideient!" " Move!" " Let go of such and such friend!" "Have faith He will miracuolsy healyou" "Move to such and such country and give up this" " You are called a leader, minister, prophet etc."

So with how you explained the carefelness of practicaltiy and how these pastors and influencers dramatize God's voice to the extreme, it makes me just want to live life and find out what was mean for me through living without worring so much to hear His voice admist so much confusion!

I have suffered with this for about 2 years now. Both with thoughts such as this, but also with physical sensations that seem to come as an answer to my thoughts. Specific sensations (a beesting for example) mean different things. And whenever I think certain thoughts, I will always get a sensation that answers it. this drives me nuts cause its no longer in my mind and is real, and physical. And tends to be right.

yeah same hesr. Sometimes I get chills. I use to get heart palapitations too thinking it was the Holy Sprit based off of one persons experience feleling ike I was just anoyther odd one. It would happen when I was about to go somewhere and ended up coming to the conclusion that I should be home! But i realized that thtrough excessive fasting, also belieivng it was the Holy Spirit, I develeped open heart valves and that the palpitations were due to me not eating! So maybe don't look too much in to these and give yourself the same standadrd of normalcy as those without ROCD and just let those sesnations pass.

I am a wannabe when it comes to journaling. I always admired how people could document their lives in a personal way and continue to do it over a long period of time. Writing by hand has never been my thing as my penmanship is atrocious and getting worse with age. I have tried to utilize a variety of digital tools to document my life but nothing ever clicked. I continue to be on the lookout for the Goldilocks solution.

Writing in Journal is as easy as it could be. You open the app, press the big plus button at the bottom and create a new entry. Entries can include text, images from your photo library, location data, voice memos, recently played Music from Apple Music, and more. Creating a new journal entry about a moment in your life is as easy as posting to your favorite social network but in this app nobody sees it but you.

Apple is powering Journal with a new iOS feature called journaling suggestions. Suggestions uses on-device machine learning to source content from your iPhone and help you better document your life. I have been given suggestions for expressing my thoughts on music I recently listened to, locations I visited throughout the day, and specific photo memories based on time or location. I have seen these suggestions grow and change since I began using Journal so I am curious to see what else may appear over time.

Apple, unsurprisingly, has put privacy front and center with Journal. Nobody can read your journal, not even Apple, and iCloud backups are stored with end-to-end encryption. Journal can be configured to require your device PIN or biometrics to unlock so if you hand your iPhone to someone while unlocked you still have an extra layer of protection for your most personal data.

All of this sounds good but there are some surprising and not so surprising features missing. Anyone thinking about using Journal should be happy living in the walled garden of Apple because I do not see any way of exporting your data. Maybe that will change someday but keep in mind that what goes in your journal stays in your journal.

First thing I noticed is that the H6 comes in a pretty decent plastic case along with all of its pieces and accessories. It isn't Pelican case grade, but it is nice to have something to keep everything in one place for storage and travel. By "pieces and accessories" I mean the foam wind cover, the stereo mic module, mid-side mic module, a set of batteries, USB cable, memory card, and a license for Cubase LE. The warranty is a standard one year.

For me, when recording audio with devices at this price point (currently $399 USD), the most important thing is audio quality. I already know that the build quality and many other pro features are likely missing. But if it has great audio quality and isn't missing so many other features that it is too difficult to use, then it has achieved its purpose.

The color screen looks impressive. But alas, this seems like a weak point to me. It looks very pretty but it is hard to see unless you have it at just the right angle and it is very difficult to see outdoors in direct sunlight. This is not a deal-breaker unless you shoot a lot outdoors in direct sunlight. I don't, but some do so I though this was worth mentioning. Indoors, the screen is great. Just about the right size and easy to see if you're looking straight-on. Not so easy from a wider angle.

The fader knobs are nice, I think nicer than on the Tascam DR-60D and 70D units, more solid feeling and very smooth. The buttons allow you to quickly arm which of the 6 tracks you want to record and with the newest firmware, also allow you to solo monitor a track which is super helpful to solve any problems when recording several mics at the same time. Neither the Tascam DR-60 or 70D allow you to do that. This is one area where Zoom is pretty strong. They have a much better track record than Tascam at adding new features to their recorders via firmware updates. Tascam almost never does that.
