The December 18, 2025, meeting of the Lakeside Freethinkers was held at 4 p.m. at Yves' restaurant in West Ajijic. Fourteen people were in attendance, including two new members, Jimi and Charles.
Lloyd opened the meeting stating that the tuition fees for the science student sponsored by our group would be due at LCS soon . He suggested a $500 p. donation and an envelope was circulated for contributions.
The topic of the day was the Winter Solstice. Lloyd informed the group about the historic roots of this ancient celebration and its relationship to the later Christmas holy day.. Chad shared a humorous story about a past Solstice celebration that he had hosted. Then Lloyd asked all present to say what this date meant to them personally. Longer days and new beginnings were prevalent comments.
Moving to a new subject, Dab gave the group members an assignment to express in a few words what an appropriate "motto" for this freethinkers organization could be. The abundant creative responses were as follows:
Reason Rules
Believe in Science
Don't let God, let God go
Follow the path to truth
Think for yourself
Freedom from dogma
We believe in one less God than you do
Reason and love= peace and stability
Good without God
Be a Freethinker, always
Heavenly Heathens
Godless Good Guys
Losing my religion
God, who?
Reason not faith
Sharing ideas for an enlightened individual
A gathering of egos
Searching for better understanding
All Information Respected (AIR)
Trying to live the best we can
Learning to help others
Trying to be honest and help others to be honest, too
Learning more so that I can help others
Less lying, more honesty
Logically Lakeside
