Oh brother!   Add this to the 200+ complaints coming recently from troops deployed in the  MidEast who were reportedly told by several different Commanders to be prepared to fight & die as martyrs for Christianity & their eternal salvation.
Sure sounds a lot like Islamist extremism "American style" (without the virgins") !

Uugghh. This is so disgusting to me, especially the “GOD appointed Donald Trump to save Christianity” lectures to all these young soldiers. Prepare to die so his Epstein crimes won’t be revealed

Hey DAB,
I'd be highly sceptical of that report about the military commanders.  It comes from Military Freedom From Religion Foundation and its founder Mikey Weinstein.  While I appreciate much of what he does, he has a long running track record of lack of transparency in claims and "overstating" what actually has been said or done.  I can imagine in this case that an overly hyped commander said something obtuse using the word 'armageddon' and Mikey took that to an extreme.  Anyway, I personally place little FAITH (🤣) on the actual truth of that story even though I have very negative views of religion in the military as a whole.

Someone needs to fact check this, maybe 🤔 I will.

I asked ChatGPT:
"I read recently that the troops were being preached to, especially that God-appointed Donald Trump to save Christianity, lectured to young soldiers. Is there any truth to this?"

Yes — there is a real story behind what you heard, but the details matter. What’s been reported is not that the entire U.S. military is officially preaching this, but that some commanders or officers have allegedly used religious language like that when addressing troops, and it has triggered complaints and an investigation.

Thanks Brad and Chad for your follow-ups to the "claim" I shared with our group yesterday about certain military commanders telling their troops to prepare for Armageddon..  I was paraphrasing from something written by 2 Substack indy journalists, but you're correct in saying that they didn't offer any hard proof....and neither did I.
My bad...and I apologize to everyone in our group for violating the  LF  "verify it" principle!  If I come across solid evidence in this regard, I will share it.

The Chatgpt's answer gave all of the sources for her answer, yes, because she is so smart she must be a she.

Dab--You have nothing to apologize for. It was correct, after all.

If soldiers are told they are fighting for Christ, the does that mean non-believers do not need to fight?

I'm new here, but I'm going to chime in on this specific topic because of my personal knowledge. I'm a 26 year combat (Persian Gulf War 91) veteran. I was and still am, one of those 'atheists in the foxholes' you hear about, I exist. The troops, including the commanders, are a reflection of the American public, just as knowledgeable, or stupid. Some of them are believers in the various religious beliefs that humans have invented to explain what the current knowledge couldn't. I had to deal with God botherers the whole time I "served," the more senior they wore, the bigger problem it was; the more senior I was, the less problem it was. DRumpf and his idiot appointments have pushed out or culled as many of the reasonable people out as they could, but never all. I personally am looking forward to a blood clot and the subsequent Nuremberg type trials and hopefully the death of the GOP and an actual progressive party to oppose the corporate Dems. I think my Senator, Mark Kelly, is a fine example of our military and Veterans. I'd be fine with supporting a Kelly / Crockett 2028 run.

Thanks for sharing your "insider's view", Mike!
I think we'd all like to see a "regime change"...both in Iran and especially in the US!

So, this has only a peripheral connection to the topic, but I think is important when discussing something like Christian Nationalism.  Thiis video is by a guy I have listened to a few times, especially his appearance at the World Economic Forum a few years ago.  I think it is important and perhaps gets to the root of Christian Nationalism and what is happening in the US right now.

I'd say enjoy, but I'm pretty certain you'll be a bit sickened by the end.

I just watched this video and am not one to be continually surprised by what T'rump & Co. are doing..as they march our country down the path of Fascism. Their end goal seems obvious to anyone paying attention.   As this "stage 4 cancer" spreads, the question is "how to stop it"?"...especially if  the Save Act and other  attempts to suppress 'free & fair elections'  are successful.
Yes, the Dem-Leftists (of which I am one) need to ditch the "purity test" and make their circle a lot bigger by sticking to  "kitchen table issues" and offering some practical solutions to everyday problems...not trying to advance the progressive agenda at this point in time.
