SAVE THE DATE

Mila let me know that the first Lakemonster parent meeting is tentatively scheduled Thursday Sept 12 5:30-6:30pm in the lab.  Parents and leads will meet 5:30-6:30 and students will then stay in the lab for a student team meeting beginning at 6:30pm.  More details to follow but wanted to give you a heads up for parents and team members to save the date.   A lot of important information is covered regarding registration, team organization, competition dates, volunteering etc,  so parent and student attendance is strongly encouraged. 

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Hello everyone! As we approach the new school year for our students, Lakeridge High School has given us the opportunity to run their concession stands during sporting events, and we need volunteers to help out!  Our team earns money from sales every time we work the concessions stands. The dates are 9/5, 10/3 and 10/22. If you’re interested, please sign up using the link below. It provides all the details, including dates, times, and locations. Parents and/or students can volunteer!

SLACK REMINDER

Beginning this school year, all parent communications will move from this Google group email to the app Slack, in order to align with how the team and mentors communicate with each other.  In anticipation of this, please download Slack on your phones and familiarize yourself with it.  The free version of the app is sufficient for our needs. You can customize your Slack notifications so you know when messages are posted and dont miss any important information.   As families register for the team in September and provide emails for one or both parents, these parent emails will be added to the Slack channel.  This will ensure all and only current families registered for the team are on the lakemonster parent Slack channel.   Emails may still occasionally be sent out throughout the year, but the goal is for Slack will be the primary communication tool for Lakemonster parents beginning this fall.  We know this will be a big change for some in the short term, but we feel this will be a better communication tool for the team parents in the long run.  For now we will continue to use this google group email until the Slack channel is fully up and running after registration.  Thank you!

REGISTRATION

Kathy Jordan will be sending out registration information as soon as it becomes available in the next couple weeks.  Please register as soon as this information is provided so that the students can get to work! ;)
