Students, please remember that this is like a job interview, practice the questions before you arrive, smile, Your attire should be casual professional, be ready to answer questions about your schedule and availability. Also, keep in mind that many of the positions that we have open will have more than one student applying. This past year we assigned a lead and a deputy lead, this allows for students to learn and perform the job, cover for each other when the other lead is gone, and in some cases to move into the lead position in the following year. Please be ready to answer questions regarding whether or not you would be willing to be a deputy lead. Keeping in mind that just because your asked does not mean that it will happen or that is what mentors are thinking.

Also, just so there's clear expectations and transparency, no Mentor who is related to any potential student lead will participate in  any of the interview process or decision making process for that particular decision. Nor will we push or influence the decision of the other mentors. Leadership decisions are made by the mentors as a whole  and are based on attendance, whether or not an application was submitted, attitude, skill level, and a desire to learn and participate in robotics. I will share this information with parents as well, so there is no confusion or concerns about biases.

Wendy

Lastly, Please remember to thank your interview panel, these situations are never easy and they take a good deal of time.
