Good Evening Everyone,
I am sorry for the delay in sending the student leader application, the students had requested it weeks ago but the forms needed to be updated (sorry Mila). A huge Shout out to Renee for her help with application updates!
Students and parents, please note that the application is due on Sunday May 19th by 5:00 PM, you have a couple of weeks to complete them, but you will likely have AP tests and Prom, so DO NOT procrastinate. Late applications will not be accepted, mentors need time to review your applications and time to set interviews, which will likely be the following week. We have not decided if the interviews will be in person or via zoom and we have not set specific times or dates as of yet. Having said this, we would like to have the new leadership positions filled before the banquet on May 31st.
Students I would encourage you to think about completing the application and trying for more than one position, this will provide you with more opportunities to fulfill a leadership role. Likewise, for those of you who may be a bit shy about taking a leadership Position, please do not let that stand in your way, as mentors we know your potential and are eager to help you become an amazing leader.
Parents, I know that sometimes as parents, we would like nothing more than to be more hands on with a task that our students have, but we are respectfully requesting that the students complete these applications on their own, and if they decide not to complete the application that is their choice as well. What you can do, to help your student prepare, is to advise them as to what to wear for a semi-professional interview. Practice the interview questions on the application with your student. The students all know us and are familiar with every mentor, but interviews can be nerve racking and know that this process is very similar to a professional job interview and students will be going through the interview process as they would if they were applying for any job.
Thank you,
Wendy
