Hello LakeMonster parents!
I hope you are all having a fabulous summer! The Lakemonster leads and many team members have been working this summer on planning for the upcoming school year, recruiting members, doing outreach activities at Dornbechers Children’s Hospital and strategizing for a successful upcoming competition season. Ask your students to continue to check the team Slack regularly for updates and messages.
Tonight (Monday 8/5) the team captain Mila and a few team leads are having an Open House for potential new members. I have posted an Event Invitation about the Open House on the Lake Oswego Moms FB page (see screenshot) as well as previous posts about the team to spread awareness about the team, and have gotten some interest from new families. I think we have around 7 kids coming tonight. I will be there to meet any parents who want to stay with their students and talk to them about parent involvement. This is not a whole team event, just an informal meet and greet with a few team leads and a mentor, but if your child is interested in participating, please have him/her message Mila on Slack.
Also, if you know any other students, such as friends of your children, who are interested in joining the team, please let them know about the Open House tonight and invite them to come! It is a great chance to see the lab, meet a few team members and hear about what the team is about in a relaxed setting. Thanks!
