Seattle City Councl
July 9th is the deadline for those seeking the Seattle City
Council District 5 seat vacated by Cathy Moore. We have heard from Brandon Monson, Debora Juarez, and Nilu Jenks that they intend to seek the appointment. A full list of hopefuls should be released and you can learn more about the process and timeline by visiting the City's Council website.

Lake City Farmers Market
July 10th BLCT will be hosting outreach from the Seattle Department of Transportation
NEW vendors this season are:
- Chubby Bunny Farm with vegetable and honey
- Holmquist Hazelnut Orchards
- Rainy Day Bees with honey and bee products
- Sea Wolf Bakery
FOOD ACCESS:
- MARKET MATCH IS BACK. Stop by the managers tent to find out the best way to spend your EBT/SNAP dollars at the LCFM.
- Location of LCFM: NE 125th & 28th Ave NE (in front of the Lake City Library)

- Master Gardener Clinic 3:00 -6:30 Bring your plant, gardening, seed and pruning questions to the experts at this market.
- LCFM Market Bingo Cards are out and about. Stop by the managers tent and grab one for each family member. It’s FUN market action.
- Seattle Parks & Recreation visiting most market days. Rec ‘N The Street along with Lake City Community Center crew with family activities. 3:00 – 6:30
JULY 10th:
- Cherry Tasting 4:00 -6:00 next to the managers tent. Stop by and sample some of the best Eastern Washington cherries at your farmers market.
- Cooking Class with Chef Conor from The Watershed Pub & Kitchen. 4:00 – 6:00 located behind the managers tent. It will be DELICIOUS!! Stop by for a chat and sample with Chef Conor.
- The Math Museum will be present from 3:00 -7:00 Lots a FUN with numbers.
JULY 17TH:
- Olympic Hills Emergency HUB – Stop by and chat with the crew so you are prepared for any disaster that may occur in the City of Seattle. 3:00 -7:00
JULY 24th:
- Shoreline Historical Museum
- Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) updates within the City of Seattle.
- Woodland Park Zoo 3:00 -7:00

- August 21st - ZUCCHINI 500 RACES 4:00 -6:00 Create a car from a delicious zucchini vegetable by attaching 4 wheels and some decorations. Race it down a track and take it home to eat for dinner. What wild FUN !! A car you can eat!

BLCT hung new artwork in the King County Dental Clinic Windows. 1,000 paper cranes created by the Nathan Hale High School Coalition of Asian and Pacific Students (CAPS) club, in partnership with BLCT, and the KCDC. Thanks to everyone involved. Check out this pop of color next time you are around 125th and LCW.

The fabulous Nancy and Pat Pew will be offering science and craft activities for kids and their grownups at the Lake City Farmer’s Markets. You can find them adjacent to the Bank of America Parking lot across the street from the library entrance on the east side of the market.
Nancy says:
"Special thanks to the market for logistical support and chairs and tables, the Burke Museum for lending us 4 Burke Boxes each summer, the neighbors who donate funds, items on our Amazon list and in kind supplies, and the families who gather for exploration, creativity, and community every Thursday from 3 to 7 during the summer."
Never a charge for participating.
