Race 14 of the Wednesday Night Series brought out 14 boats. Earlier in the afternoon the conditions and forcast were not good with winds out of the SSW at 3 mph. When the RC went out to set a course the winds had steadily increased to a solid 8 mph. The RC with Graham's help set a start line near the moring field of the LG Club and a windward mark 1.25 miles on a heading of 170 deg. for a W4 course. The race got off with a clean start. At the windward mark the different ideas of which way to go, left, center or right played it's had with Woot and Uncle Ludwig leading the fleet. On the 2nd leg downwind a storm cell was passing by about 10 miles to the north with claps of thunder. The RC notified the fleet of this on 72 and monitored radar on the phone. As the fleet approached mark 2 the winds started to diminish so the RC lifted the anchor and went to mark 3 and shortened the course at that mark. It turned out to be a good call as tahe storm threatened the fleet but all returned their docks without harm. The RC towed 2 boats back to the club. Next week the after race party will be in the Grotto with food and drink for all. Those boats that come from the east or south end of the lake to race may leave their boats at the LG Club overnight so they do not have to go back in the dark, per Alfie. Attached are the results from wed eve. Woot had line honors with Uncle Ludwig getting 1st on corrected time, with Stinger 2nd and Cut Loose 3rd.
See you next week on the water
