If anyone wanted to go out sailing for an exciting, brisk, heart pounding time, Wednesday afternoon was for you. The RC went out in the 2-1/2 foot rollers and set a W4 course at 030 degrees with a distance of 1.15 miles utilizing North Canoe government mark as the pin end of the start line. The windward mark was the orange cylinder to the NNE. After anchoring the RC boat it was brought to the attention of the race committee that the line was too short and that I should move the RC boat to make it longer. I asked them if they could drag the buoy farther away but that was not going to happen either, so we decided to use the new outer government buoy for the pin end. There were 11 boats that checked in for the race. At the start some went left and some went right going upwind through the waves. Stinger and crew had it figured out, watching their compass and tacking on the shifts. At the 1st mark they lead the fleet at 16:12 minutes into the race followed by the others. On the downwind run Wild Thing decided to set their chute. No other chutes were seen in the windy conditions. Going wing and wing proved fast enough. At the 2nd mark it was Stinger, Wind Machine and IKO IKO. Wild Thing keep going south at the 2nd mark and back to the dock. The fleet spread out on legs 3 and 4. At the finish for line honors and 1st on corrected time went to Stinger and crew with IKO IKO in 2nd and Uncle Ludwig for third. Attached are the results for this race and the series scores. A big thanks to Carlton for assisting me after the racing to pick up the mark and my main anchor that I left attached to a small hip hop buoy as it was a bit rough out there. See everyone on the water next week.
