We had a great elluminate session today with John Fritz. The recording has now been posted to the course recordings page: http://www.learninganalytics.net/?page_id=71 . The presentation provides a great introduction to the practical application of analytics in higher education.

Here's a resource from EDUCAUSE that is worth a visit: http://nextgenlearning.com/sites/site-1/assets/Learning_Analytics_Background.pdf - covers main areas of analytics (as part of the Next Gen Learning Challenge) as well as illustrations of analytics use.

The activity in the moodle forum continues: http://scope.bccampus.ca/mod/forum/view.php?id=8723 ...Richard has initiated a question that's worth exploring in more detail: What analytics would help you with this course? Dream a bit - what would you need in order to get more out of t his course?

If you're feeling a bit lost in the course, Dave Cormier has a few thoughts on getting started and diving into the content and interactions of LAK11 - a great resource to get you started if you're feeling a bit overwhelmed: http://davecormier.com/edblog/2011/01/12/mooc-newbie-voice-a-slackers-entrance-into-lak11/
