This
morning, the
unthinkable
happened. At
the Tree of
Life synagogue
in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania,
during Shabbat
services, a
gunman opened
fire, killing
eleven people,
injuring many
more, and
leaving
countless
others across
the country in
a state of
grief and
horror.
In
the days to
come, as more
details are
made known, we
will surely be
left to
grapple with
questions of
hatred and
anti-Semitism,
with the
crisis of gun
violence, and
with this
country's
unstable lurch
toward
extremism.
But
as deep and
important as
these
questions are,
we are also
called, now,
to hold space,
to show up for
ourselves in
our grief, in
our
compassion,
and in the
arms of our
community.
Tomorrow
night,
solidarity
will be our
safety.
Please
join us for a
community
vigil.This
gathering will
be co-hosted
by IfNotNow,
Bend the Arc
Jewish Action,
SIJCC -
Silverlake
Independent
Jewish
Community
Center, IKAR
and many
others in the
Jewish and
Interfaith
community.
When:
Tomorrow
evening,
Sunday,
October 28th @
6-8pm
Bring
a candle,
bring a sign,
bring your
loved ones,
bring anything
that will help
you find
comfort.
Together we
will stand in
mourning, in
song, and
against the
white
supremacist
hatred that
threatens our
lives and the
lives of other
marginalized
people.
In
solidarity,
Jesse
Schreck,
IfNotNow
Leader
