Afirmware is an IPSW file that contains everything needed to run the core operating system of the respective device. Beta firmwares have also been released, but they require a valid Apple ID to acquire. To check for updates, iTunes/Finder/Apple Configurator/Apple Devices contacts for iOS/iPod/Apple TV/HomePod mini IPSWs. There are different manifests for macOS IPSWs, bridgeOS IPSWs, and visionOS IPSWs.

I am in recovery mode on the phone and plug it in it starts the update OR restore downloads the file, installs then produces this error. It seems that the firmware file from apple is corrupt in some way.

For anyone finding this years later, you may not have enough space on your computer's drive. The multi-gig file the restore process downloads has to be extracted, which means you need double the amount of space (or more).

Hi sara41,

I am not familiar with using a camera adapter to flash a node, but I have used the nrf app as described in the docs. -started/flashing-firmware/nrf52/ota/

I used the nrf app for a update just yesterday and it worked great.

Best of luck.

I have done the update with the DFU app with mixed results, the firmware linked in the Meshtastic iOS app does not work in DFU says no jason file. So have to hunt around to get the correct firmware that ends with.ota.

After having found firmware that DFU accepts, only one of several attempts was successful. Other attempts end after the boot loader step then brick the node. This requires manually plugging the node in to my Mac and dragging and dropping the firmware back on to the device. This was with multiple RAK nodes.

I have the RAK plugged to the iPhone using the camera adapter, ( not by Bluetooth) double pressed the reset button to put it in to DFU mode. Where on the phone do find the RAK so the firmware can be loaded?

I have used the DFU app with success a few times to my solar powered nodes up a pole.

Yesterday I tried to do the same at a different site, which is on a friends roof and it failed, with the node now being unresponsive. I gather there is nothing I can do until I get the node to a computer?

When you perform a restore, your computer will download the latest compatible firmware version and install it, erasing everything else that was on your phone. Afterward, you can restore your stuff from a backup. It is generally not possible to use this mechanism to revert to an older version of iOS, because Apple stops signing old images as new ones are released.

Well that was a bit scary. I've just updated the firmware on my iPhoneto 2.2 (the horrors!). Actually, this normally shouldn't be too much ofa trial. The difference here is that I did it from Windows runninginside VMWare on a Linux host.

I initially tried the naive approach of applying the update normallyusing iTunes (but running inside VMWware). Don't do this! The host(Linux) USB subsystem gets in the way leaving you with a somewhatuseless iPhone in "recovery mode". It seems that the iPhone firmwareupgrade procedure does something tricky with USB that doesn't playnicely with VMWare running on Linux.

To workaround the issue, some USB modules have to not be loaded on theLinux host during the upgrade. Extending the tips on Stephen Laniel'sblogI created a blacklist file for modprobe that prevents certain USBmodules from loading. Just unloading the modules manually isn't enough. The iPhone reconnects to the USB bus at least once during the upgradeprocess causing udev to reload the modules you've manually unloaded.

You might find that at one point during the upgrade that iTunes sitsthere with a dialog saying "Preparing iPhone for upgrade". If this goeson for several minutes it could be that the iPhone isn't connected toVMWare anymore. iTunes is just waiting for the device to appear. If thishappens, reattach the iPhone to VMWare using the "Removable Devices"option on VMWare's VM menu. It's a good idea to occasionally check thatthe iPhone is connected to VMWare during the upgrade.

I have 5(!) iXpand Flash Drives (all updated with the lastest firmware 4.4.7) and have tried them on both iPhone and iPad with iOS 9.2. None of them are able to find the actual pictures or videos inside the folders on my iPhone/iPad, just the maps where the picture and video files are.

are all of your pictures actually on the iOS device or are the picture actually stored on the cloud? this app can only backup pictures if they are stored on the iOS device. it does not communicate with the cloud.

iOS sandboxes the music so third party apps cant access it. To backup music you will have to sync with iTunes. Once the music is on the computer you can connect the iXpand to the computer and copy music to the iXpand drive.

A few days ago I experienced that the IOS 17.1.2 devices (iphone) did not get internet connectivity via deco wifi, but can have internet connection via same ISP and same subnet with another brand wifi AP. Seems like, this is IOS + Deco specific problem. I made manually upgrade too on the deco. I did "forget this network", turn of device hide with fake MAC address, disable trcacking protection on phone, switched off roaming and beamforming too on AP .It doesn't help. I use my deco X50 V1 in AP mode. Other devices working well with the same Deco AP, which is strange, and confirm that is IOS + DECO thing.

With iOS 4 coming out soon, I have already planned to include an iAd in a future update of an app of mine. I assume that this will make my app unusable for anyone on a firmware lower than 4.0. Is there a way to change those variables and the .xib file based on the user's firmware?

The issue is that for our R3 WiFi chip, the WiFi firmware assumed one part of the WiFi standard meant that within the connection string, one of the parameters would never have additional information. They put in a filter and refused connections that had any additional parameters.

We are pushing this firmware upgrade from our end proactively and you should see no interruption in service. If you do, please let me know and we will address it. The upgrade should be completed by tomorrow afternoon.

I met with our WiFi chip partner to make sure they are implementing better processes that allow for changes on the phone and computer side. We are also working to be more proactive with our new device testing so that we are proactively finding this issues.

Hey Siri, how do I make you suck less? Turns out the answer is to link it to Google Assistant. A new update to Google Assistant for iOS adds support for Siri Shortcuts, so you can actually get some decent voice assistant action on your iPhone.

Your 632 FW broke HomeKit on my system. It has been working fine with HomeKit until this past weekend. Now I know why it suddenly started giving NO RESPONSE messages this weekend in the Home app. I tried deleting and re-adding the controller, but it no longer shows up as a device in the Home app. System still works through the Rachio app, but HomeKit is now broken with the 632 FW you pushed out. Any chance I could roll-back? And BTW, I use iphone 11 running current version of iOS, and Gen4 Apple Watch to control the system via HomeKit.

We have a new firmware release after the controller is provisioned. If you only have access to an iPhone 11 we will have an option soon to connect the controller to the internet using a laptop as an initial workaround. PM me if you would like me to let you know when it is out.

I already did a factory reset due to the firmware "upgrade" killing my download and upload speeds and I had to do a downgrade of my firmware. Doing the factory reset after the firmware downgrade resolved the speed issue, but the apps no longer identify the devices connected to the router. Any other suggestions greatly appreciated .....

I tried that, without success. The desktop Genie app has the same issue and neither show the device info. deleting and reinstalling the apps was useless. The irony is that the apps worked great with the newest firmware update, but the firmware update killed my internet speed, to the point that I had to rollback and downgrade the firmware to get my internet speed back. I've read in other threads that firmware version 1.0.9.42 is considered to be the last decent firmware version, which is what I downgrade to and got my speed back. If there is a newer firmware version that won't kill my internet speed again and will resolve the apps not being able to identify devices that are connected, I'd like to hear abou it. Any other suggestions appreciated .....

The Philips 9030 just got a firmware update (1.4.0) that allows the use of a button on the hearing aid to answer calls. If you have Oticon More aids, the same update is coming to your aids. They update in lock step with each other.

The Philips firmware, which tracks the Oticon since both are made by Dement, was released last week. Starting up the fitting software (at Costco) and connecting to your aids will flag that there is a firmware update available to 1.4.1.

I am having issues with downloading the firmware on two Apple devices with both saying that they Could not Update. After many uninstalling and reinstalling and repairing with tech support, I was finally told to use an Android product to update.

At this point this is false advertisement since the product states that this is compatible with iOS.

@jaimefalvarez I've moved your post to the Charge 6 board as it seems you're having an issue and not an idea for our products. As our friend mentioned above, as long as your device meets those requirements, you should be able to set up and update your tracker. I'm sorry this isn't your case and it seems our Support team sent you an email with more instructions. Rest assured your case is in good hands, so please make sure to reply back to them if the issue persists in order to receive further assistance.
