Subject  :-    Meeting on Follow up action on the agenda of Career Counseling in Lahaul as a pilot project to be held on Last week of May or 1st week of June.

Shri Rakesh Bodh, director , Path finder (Kullu) and Laurel School Kullu.

        He expressed his concern over the trend of following the other students among the students of Valley while compromising or underestimating their own calibre and potentials.

In his opinion the trend of joining the coaching institute among the students is something which needs to ponder upon, because, very few percentage of the children who are engaged with the coaching classes are really serious about the study.

         parents could be invited for the counselling session, because apart from teacher, they are  the one who plays a very important role in the future of their children and cooperation from the parents will work as prerogative in fulfilling the society’s agenda.

        one of the major problem they face is the weakness in English language. Though potential is abundant among the children of the Twin valley,

 but the lack of guidance comes as a hindrance in their successful career

he also voiced is opinion on extending such counselling session on routine basis.

        Though there are abundance of talent in the children but the shyness, reluctance and hesitation comes as a hurdle and obstructs the children from performing or showcasing their talent. 

        Students needs to be motivated and inspired to participate in extra curricular activities, which will help to reduce the shyness attitude they possess and will result in the changeinperception.

He also suggested for the workshop to be didvided into a different session. the counselling should be divided in different parts and queries from the students will be taken on the second day  as a follow up action to the workshop. There should be enough time given to them to ponder upon the queries which arises overnight.

        She also opined on the inclusion of parents for the meeting. Lack of awareness among the students makes them vulnerable in the copycat trending which not only results in poor performance but also make them reluctant in choosing the best possible career as per their potential.

        she briefed, that such workshop was initiated by the govt in form of psychological test which was used to be conducted in the year 2008-2009  to assess their qualities and weaknesses, but was stopped without giving any reasons by the authority.

She suggested on distributing the questionnaire at the very beginning of the seminar to know about the psyche of the students, which will be evaluated by the experts in order to know their thought process etc. and will be imperative to the area of study to be focus on and the further course of action.

        Interactive session during the seminar would be fruitful where several queries from the students would be taken up.

        The concept of Old students group would be constructive and beneficial where the alumni visits their alma mater and share their experiences with the new buds.

Vikram katoch

        He voiced his opinion on the lack of proper guidance among the students to choose their career. Students in metros are well aware of the path they will be choosing for their career in the school level itself, but the case is quite different among the children of our distt. 

        He considers maths as a subject, a nightmare for students of the valley.

he suggested for the ice breaking session during the seminar which will help to reduces the introvert attitude among students and will make them more open and frank while interacting with the members and experts.

        He also conform with the idea of inclusion of parents and different sessions for the seminar. In his opinion the shyness attitude among the children of the valley is biggest obstruction in choosing their career.

        He was in agreement with the ideas and problems shared by other members and suggested that application would be sent for approval to Dy. Director Education to conduct the seminar from the SLS body and it should be organised with the collaboration of  mahila Mandal.

        The meeting will be held again on April 30, 2017 Sunday at the same place(Gaur Niwas). All the members of the SLS and FFGP are invited to suggest their valuable views on the said matter. Members are also requested to give their names as a volunteer for the above project.

        All the members are requested to review the proposal for the project and give their suggestion and feedback, so that, same could be implemented, after the due consideration from all the concerned members.

        Also the different views on expenditure for  the refreshment, during the meeting was raised. Some members were of the opinion that, it should not be borne out of the SLS account, while some members including me are of the opinion that it should be from the SLS account. You are requested to voice your consensus on the matter.
