Hi All - Sad to see the last summer holiday! Where did the summer go?
Have lots of stuff inventoried. Yesterday had 12,000 lb delivery. Good golly - it does not seem like this little store could hold that much product. Have lots of specials going on. T-bones $8.99, NY strips $11.99, $11.99 5lb bag of grinds, St. Louis style ribs $4.49 (my favorite), whole or half chicken $1.59, and lots more.
This summer I kept track of how many bushels of sweet corn I sold. (Delaware Co. corn is done for the year). 79 bushels! That is 948 ears. Corn this year was good. Guess it was due to the rain.
Next week I will be coming out with a new deli menu and a new mini pac/bundles. I have found that I have to keep trying new things and making new items. Hope you have noticed - the many assortments of salads I have added. Wonder if they will continue to sell in the winter months? The other day carmel apples were delivered. Boy are they good. As a suggestion by Chris (my gal at the meat counter), I got in "Pink Lady" apples. Expensive - wow! $1.29 each or 3 for $3.59. However - are they ever delicious! Stop in - I will split one with you - so you can see how great these apples are.
I got notice yesterday - to start thinking about ordering fresh turkeys! oh boy.
Chef Matt has been busy making brats, breaded stuff, ham loaf and meat loaf, marinated chicken - the list goes on... Anyway - I am getting fat and lazy - and Matt can not do it all - so I am looking for a part time, experienced meat cutter. One who can work the early AM and be done. Know of anyone? Send them my way.
Hope you all have seen the improvements I have done on the outside of my building? Hopefully - buy the end of the month a new porch addition will be done. Then I can redo the front entrance (painting). After 6 years - the front door need an up grade - don"t-you-think? It is hard to believe that my front door can still function - cause I get an average of 3500 customers per month. That is a lot of opening/closing.
Lastly - I have put a new beef roast in the counter. Think it is the same price at rump roast. It is the eye of the chuck. Suppose to be the 2nd most tender piece of meat on the carcass! Fillet being the 1st. Stop in and I will show you. They are small - 2/3 lbs each.
Thanks for shopping my little store. Ron Lahody
