NUISANCE & HARASSMENT BY DOMESTIC COOK SURESH PUROHIT

Dear members,

I wish to bring this recent incident of harassment by domestic cook Suresh Purohit (Permanent Resident of Rajasthan) to the knowledge of everyone.

This guy used to work with me last year till before Diwali and I had asked him to discontinue his services as I found him loud-mouthed, manner-less, argumentative and disrespectful towards me and my wife and was irregular with poor personal hygiene. I also suspected him of having stolen money and some articles from my house.

However, when I did his final payment (which was considerably more than his entitlement), I did mention to him all the reasons for discontinuing his services other than my suspicion of stealing as I thought I must give him the 5 % benefit of doubt.

Strangely however, for the last 15 days, i.e. 5+ month after he quit working for me, he has been harassing us by sending different people to my house in my absence to my wife asking for some 4500/- I owe him !! Every time my wife whisked these people away as she knew we owe him nothing. She also once asked one of them to ask Suresh to come himself in my (her husband’s) presence if at all he thought we owe him something!! However, he never turned up or called me up.

Perturbed by this weird act, I located his number, called him up on Saturday and asked him what his problem was and asked him to come himself to my house in my presence. He still did not come and instead went to LAAC Secy Mr Bhattacharya complaining against me for not paying his dues. On Monday, when on suggestion from Hon’ble Secy, I was approached by Mr Tiwari (Security) , I got irritated with his repeated acts of nuisance and asked Tiwari ji to get Suresh to me somehow. 

Suresh finally came to me the day before, probably in an inebriated state (I am not sure,however). In a very unusual way, he told me that I must straightaway give him 4500/- on the spot. I asked him questions like the basis of demanding this money, the reason for not coming to me for 5 months if he thought I owe him something, the reason for sending different people at my place in my absence to harass my wife and not calling me or meeting me himself despite calling him and going to LH Secy etc etc. He had no answer to any of these things and just kept saying that I owe him money.  

Despite having cleared his dues earlier, I offered him 1000/- thinking that he might be in some dire need or trouble, basically because I did not want to get involved in argument with him and waste my time and energy. He refused, insisted that I give him 4500/- (with no logic!!) and left saying that he would " SEE ME" !!

Yesterday, I got a call from someone who claimed to be speaking from Vastrapur Police Station telling me that some cook had come to him complaining against me for not paying the dues. When I spoke to this self-proclaimed/real policeman firmly about my stand, he fumbled and gave the phone to Suresh. I disconnected and did not speak to him.

THIS IS SERIOUS NUISANCE AND I STRONGLY RECOMMEND BARRING THIS PERSON FROM ENTERING OUR PREMISES. TODAY, HE HAS BEEN TRACKING MY MOVEMENTS & HARASSING MY WIFE IN MY ABSENCE THINKING HE CAN GET AWAY, TOMORROW IT COULD BE SOMEONE ELSE! 

While I am fully capable of protecting myself, my family, and my assets from any prospective threat/physical harm/damage/harassment and have already taken the required corrective action, I also wish to simultaneously call upon the esteemed appointments and members of LAAC to exercise their discretion and take appropriate action against him.
