Hey Guys
Termites are slowly but surely creeping into La Habitat. The first defense mechanism against termites is to be alert. But we don’t even know that how does the termites look like to be alert.
The second best option is to prevent termite infestation but do we really care?
1. Fill cracks in cement foundations and around the utility spaces (We hardly care for this)
2. Inspect regularly and ensure termite colonies do not establish (Again, we hardly do this)
3. Keep soil around foundations dry (every member waters their plants in excess of what the plants need forcing the water out to the foundation levels. So this is also out of question)
Since we have not done any of these in the last four years, termites are playing havoc in many homes.
The best option now left is to treat it not in individual capacity but the entire area. This involves cost and should be carried out by a professional agency.
The committee has not been able to identify this as a major problem and has cared least to address it though we are not short of resources to perform this task. At least 10 homes in LH have been officially infested by termites with heavy damage and one of them happens to be of a Committee Member himself. Though these people have changed their furniture or treated for their individual homes, termites don’t disappear. It just shifts from one place to another.
Would request the committee to look into this seriously and take this work on war footing. This is much serious than we think.
