Friends
There are some civil works going on at LH. So you may guess it is refurbishing the leaked walls or replacing broken water inlets which is very much necessary. But surprisingly it is covering an aesthetically designed space for reason unknown to many, at least me. Architecturally this space is called positive space. In LH this was covered with some pebbles with two protruding lights which looked decent. But why it is now covered with tiles is something no one knows. That too when the entire space cannot be covered technically because there are sewage pipelines inside it. Tomorrow you may find Amphitheatre being covered to park vehicles because it is a waste space for some.

Each member came to know about this when the mason started cutting tiles to fit into these places. Question is can the committee take this decision without concurrence from members? Can they carry out any civil work without support from members? Even if there were problems and was required to be filled up, cant they communicate to the members? 5 people are not the final authority of what should be done at LH. They are just executors of the wishes of members. And when you don’t ask what members want, then it becomes a concrete jungle of autocracy. Today or tomorrow for sure. I am just expressing what I felt.

I fully endorse views of Mr. Binu Alex. I see no point in putting tiles where earlier we had pebbles. I am of the view that we need to put our priorities in place. The most important issue which needs to be addressed on urgent footing is, what Mr. Binu mentioned "refurbishing the leaked walls or replacing broken water inlets which is very much necessary". Continuous leakages are not only making walls/structure weak but also it gives shabby looks. This particular problem is there in most of the blocks. I request the committee members to kindly address this stinking problem on priority.

Dear All Residents,

I totally agree with Binu on this.

The thought processes of some people who authorised the civil work to cover up some nice spaces with tiles and to what end purpose it would serve completely eludes me!

Can the nice people who decided to authorise the civil work please answer the other society members?

Regards,

Hello Residents,

It is time that we start discussing the maintenance issues in LAH or else it will cause a severe damage to our hard earned properties. Maintenance has been a serious issue since last 2 years or so. Nothing is being done to keep the premises intact and viewable. On one hand, the seepage, broken bison panels etc. have been ignored and on other side we, the people are also not keeping any stone unturned in littering within the premises. The list goes on and society as well as residents are avoiding these important issues. None of the society members respond or pay a heed to any sensible mail. This callousness is not going to take us anywhere.

A chain of mail is being written regarding covering of free spaces with concrete. Any sensible person should ask this question....Why so?

I affirm that chosen society keepers have the responsibility to explain and justify their decisions if any right question is asked. Mr. President and Mr. Secretary, please come forward and explain us the reasoning of covering pebble spaces.

Regards,
Dr. Simran Sethi

Hi Simran & All,

I second you thoughts on setting maintenance priority based on collective feedback. I missed attending AGM this time, and if their is a effort to bring folks together for initiating this discussion I will welcome it.
