Hello
As most of you are aware by now, a fire inadvertently broke out at A7 last weekend and it is now clear that it was a major fire and destroyed the entire room and furniture. Fortunately, it was brought under control.

LH doesn’t have a fire safety system which is not mandatory for low rise buildings as per law. But imagine if such a fire breaks out anywhere and most importantly in the Meter Rooms where wires and exposed and most MCBs are pasted with tapes so that it doesn’t trip – a dangerous thing to do. We don’t have the first line of defence which is a small handy Fire extinguisher.

Can we take this opportunity to request the committee to install either a stored pressure or a cartridge-operated mobile Fire extinguisher near the lift at each floor, outside the Meter Room and at the Security Cabin where a lot of wiring is completely unscientific and exposed to danger.

Dear Memebers,
The incident was very unfortunate and we really feel that, Primary level Safety Measures are required to safeguard our premises. Yes, we have already proposed for 20 units of Mobile Fire Extinguishers and have approached several suppliers and are waiting for the best specification, quotes and the respective services, so that a unit each can be installed at every block as well as all the facility rooms and most important, at the Gates. This will be complied with soon.
Thanks and regards,
Rakesh Bhattacharjee

It's really required to install as early as possible. I have one more suggestion to make a group of whats up for Lahabitat residents so it would be easy for everybody to convey their thoughts as well as such types of difficulties

It is essential to have small  / portable unit at every house at their own cost  for their own safety.

Thank you Mr. Rakesh Bhattacharjee for your prompt action. Our flat incident of fire on 25th Dec, 2013, wherein it took the fire brigade people an hour to extinguish the fire and bring the situation under control.  Upon reflection a fire extinguisher would have been handy then.

Rgds

It's matter of great concern, certainly some effective measures need to be taken, even if it involves additional expenditure.
