Dear Friends,

Celebrating Holi with full water splash and showers? Great.

Water is so precious that if at all there is a third world war, it would be over water. Most parts of India face drought. People are trying to snatch every single drop of water available. Farmers are not getting even irrigated water because reservoirs do not have them.

Latur in Maharashtra has imposed Section 144 of the CrPC, around water tankers and water storage tanks in the district. It means, only five people can gather around the water tankers. This is happening for the first time in the history of the state.(Remember most of the Pulses you consume comes from this place)

When you enjoy your holi in the splash, think of those people who trek tens of kilometers every day for a pot of water or farmers who feed you but can’t feed themselves for lack of water.

Always remember, the water you waste everyday in your kitchen do not belong to you. It is someone else’s share which has been snatched from them and redirected to you because you are privileged. So before you go for that splash under the showers during Holi, think of those underprevilaged.

This is not an appeal to stop any fun and frolic activity. But to just think of your fellow countrymen in the midst of your celebration.

Happy Holi to everyone.

Happy Holi. Fully agree that  water is too precious to be wasted; to be extravagantly splashed about.Better sense must prevail. But after  seeing the Rain Dance pipes installed in the garden ,all ready to drench everyone , all hope is lost. Schools teach our children  to conserve resources and it is high time we all pitched in.  It would be a welcome move if a dry Holi is celebrated instead .

Any view is personal and society runs on majority views like government.   Even I do agree we should   not waste  water. But out of no option I have accept – though I am not playing Holi at all – because I am staying in society !  Similarly  all  festival !  I blindly support the society to run without trouble.

We all should remember, we are not staying in Hotel !   here management is honorary service rendered by  few  members .  If anyone want to bring change in the running of society, they should become committee members  and implement the changes.

I am not capable, so I am not committee member  and supporting the body for overall benefit !

I fully endorse the idea of water conservation and appreciate views expressed by Vijayalakshmi G.

Latur in Marathwada is going through extremely difficult times, Pune too is experiencing water crises. We should use water wisely and set good examples for children.

Along with water, Power  and  food.  One may   afford for both,  but don’t have right to waste.  Tell this also to children.
