Dear Colleagues,

I finally got almost all the answers to the proposal of a joint activity on lagoon biodiversity  from the lagunet steering committee. since all of them were positive, I would suggest to circulate the following mesage and file within the lagunet membership. I am adding to the the message a sentence like that ' if you are interested in this bottom up initiative and can fulfill all the requirements listed in the annexed file, please send your confirmation to Alberto Basset (alberto...@unile.it) who is taking the responsibility to coodinate this activity for the side of LaguNet,...

I am therefore asking the president to circulate the message inside the membership. Since it is an international initiative, I would suggest to use english for all communication in order to be able to exchange informations among networks easily.

Sincerely, Alberto

Dear Colleagues,
I was at the LifeWatch WP3 meeting, dealing with the organisation of an
european data proviedr platform on biodiversity (see more about lifewatch
at www.lifewatch.eu), together with the representative of BALLOON, Elnet
and TWReferenceNET. Our support to the LIfeWatch initiative was greatly
appreciated and the participation of our networks to LifeWatch, as new
'accession' members' is going to be reported also on the lifewatch
website. LifeWatch is now starting with some show cases of how the
initiative will work to support the research on biodiversity organisation
and conservation. We had the opportunity to organise one of the show cases
on the hoierarchical scaling on biodiversity in the transitional wtaer
ecosystems in Europe. As other Lagunet initiatives, the development of the
show case is a bottom up initiative without economical support from
lifewatch, at this stage; moreover, we have a short time to develop and
close it. The good point is that it is an occasion to develop common
research activities among networks (and within) and produce coordinated
reserach papers to be submitted together for the publication. Here you
will find the proposal that in behalf of the network we have proposed at
the meeting I hope that you will agree with the responsibility that I had
taken in the behalf of all of you but I think that it was really a good
occasion given to the networks to show their actual interest in Life
Watch. You will find attached the proposal and I am waitinbg for you
reply. If you are interested in the proposal and you fulfill the requirements that are listed in the attached file, please send in the due time a confirmation to me (alberto...@unile.it) since I am taking the responsibility to coodinate this activity for the side of LaguNet

Sincerely, Alberto
