Hi guys,

Happy new year to you all! I hope you all had a good one ;o)

Just wanted to let you know that we have a new version ready for testing. This version (1.3.0) contains the following changes:

* Added the new lagtv stream notification and design
* Admins can send emails to a selected group of members by role (see the Emails menu option) (need to double check only admins can do this)
* Announcements are now fixed at the top of the page after scrolling
* Users that are deactivated are logged out of the site on their next request

You can see this version for testing here: http://lagtv.andypike.com

Please be careful when testing the email feature, it will send emails to the people on the testing server that have the selected role. If you do not want to receive these test emails then please make sure your account on the testing server is set to "Member" as this role cannot be selected. If you need Admin rights to test this then please let me know.

As always, any feedback you guys have would be awesome!

Also, a big thank you to Kevin Hall for doing most of the work and sending in some great pull requests!

Cheers

Andy

Hello :)

Just one comment. The white border on the

<div class="navbar navbar-fixed-top">

combines with the white border on

<div class="announcement" id="announcement_3">
so the result is 2px of white border-bottom. I think it's safe to remove the style from the announcement.

Take care!

Thanks, Andy! I hope everyone had a good one, too! Thanks, Kevin for your hard work!

Anyway, I tested 1.3.0 and this is what I noticed so far:

* Added the new lagtv stream notification and design (Looks great and clean! It looks the same as the twitter, facebook, and youtube icons.)
* Admins can send emails to a selected group of members by role (see the Emails menu option) (need to double check only admins can do this)
(I tried it and sent out emails to the Analyst role, which included only myself and one other person, but I was unable to receive the email.

Here are the questions I have in mind:

    • How long does it take? I'm still seeing on the test site that it is still processing.
    • What does it say in the email format? I asked was in case I wanted to respond to it.
    • When sending out emails, will it go through and reach all mail servers (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.)? I'm asking in case the members comment about not getting any emails. I wonder if they will get marked as spam.
    • Is it possible for Adam and/or Jeff to retrieve those emails sent back in case they change their mind or need to edit? I think I answered my own questions by saying no, lol. Once the emails get send outside the mail servers, we can't retrieve them back.

Otherwise, the email setup is fine.)

* Announcements are now fixed at the top of the page after scrolling (Looks good. I did notice the white border, which I was going to comment, but Szymon beat me to it. We need to remove the px because it's bugging me, lol.)
* Users that are deactivated are logged out of the site on their next request (Tested and it worked. One thing I found: When account is disabled, it says contact admin, how when they can't log in? Would Adam prefer them make another account? I think there should be a statement saying, "Please contact (the email)" or "Fill out a form" in reactivating the account.)

Anyway, this is what I found out. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for trying it out. Here are some updates:

* Fixed the email sending issue (the background worker could connect to the db, adding a setting for this)
* Fixed the 2px line on announcements

Answering your questions:

1. The emails should only take a couple of minutes to arrive (max)
2. Email format is text (not html)
3. Emails should get to all domains but we'll need to keep an eye on this
4. I think we should keep the disabled message as is for now, they'll find a way to contact someone :o)

Could you give it a re-test?

Cheers

Andy

Thanks for the update, Andy.

- The announcements look much better.
- This time, I was able to receive the email, compared to the one I tried to send last night.

I will keep my eyes out for all domains/mail accounts once we have this implemented. To be honest, I do not want to take the time to test this out, lol. It will take a lot of time creating and testing out different email accounts...just more junk and password for me to remember. Right now, gmail and yahoo seems to work just fine. Anyway, I would prefer people just post it in the forums and we can record each domain/email account and see what's up.

Thanks for answering and clearing up the questions!

Hi All

I have re tested rendering on my htc desire, android 2.2 and have encounted no issues, the new buttons work great.

I am without a PC at the moment, but that will change on Monday. I will do more testing then.

But so far 1.3.0 is looking good.
