Hi guys,

Just wanted to let you know that I've pushed a new version of the profile pages up to the testing server. You can see my profile here: http://lagtv.andypike.com/users/1

If you have some time, would you guys mind having a play about and try to configure your own pages and post them here for us to look at? We still have work to do for this release but I'd like to get some early feedback if possible.

Cheers

Andy

Andy,

I saw the updated link for twitch. I also forgot to mentioned that when you go to "My Settings", under "Profile - Basics", it says twitch.com instead of twitch.tv.

The User Profiles looks great. I tried it on all browsers and did not see any browsers' issues. However, there are things I noticed when messing with the Profile settings.
 1. I cannot add a profile service as an admin. It says, "Oops, something went wrong."
 2. In the "About Me" section, the texts keeps going on and does not reach the next line. I had to add a break or Shift+Enter.
 3. When adding a profile username, the link to connect to your profile is misinterpreted. The first thing I thought was to enter my username instead of my ID/number. When I first added my username, it did not take me to my profile. Can we add a description or rule that states that they need their ID and not their username?
 4. Could there be an option or a rule in the profile settings to have a checkbox to unsubscribe a thread? I'm fine with selecting a thread and unsubscribing there. But I was wondering if we can just unsubscribe through profile settings.

Otherwise, that's all I could find. Right around this time, I wanted to mess around the settings but I think the test site is down for updates so I can't continue testing.

Hi,

I've just been deploying a new update so this might have caused some issues as you were using it. I'll investigate this issues you reported and will let you know how it goes. Thanks for checking it, that really helps! I've just deployed an update to the way the profile urls work, see https://github.com/andypike/lagtv/issues/265

Cheers

Andy

Just deployed a new version that fixes the issues you reported and also adds the ability for people to report profile pages for inappropriate content :o) Feel free to check it out.

Hi all,

So I think I've completed v1.4 ready for release. Here are the highlights:
  • Members can setup their own profile pages
  • Logged in members can view other peoples profile pages
  • Admins can manage profile player connect services
  • Members can customise the url of their profile page
  • Forums now have RSS feeds
  • Members can report profile pages for inappropriate content
  • Community Managers can change a members role to any level expect Admin

As you can see, most of the work is around the new profile pages. As I'm sure many members will try this out on release I'd really appreciate any help in testing these features. Thanks.

Any questions, just let me know.

Cheers

Andy

Andy,

Here is what I have tested:
    • Members can setup their own profile pages
      • (Profile are able to set up, However, in the "About Us", I don't like the scroll bar left to right. It should be up and down or, if possible, a line break after reaching the end of the box or a character limit.)
    • Logged in members can view other peoples profile pages
      • (Tested and works.)
    • Admins can manage profile player connect services
      • (Tested and works. It only works when you have a logo/image uploaded.) Also, I have a feeling people will put in their username, instead of their ID/number, to link to their profile and then report that the link is broken or doesn't take them anywhere.
        • (Example: See lagtv.andypike.com/profiles/thongalong and click on Xbox or Battle.net. Once you are done, check my profile as Admin and you will see that I added the username and not ID. For LoL, I added an ID.)
    • Members can customise the url of their profile page
      • (Tested and works.)
    • Forums now have RSS feeds
      • (Tested and works.)
    • Members can report profile pages for inappropriate content
      • (Tested and works. But I don't know how it will be once it goes live. There are 1000s of users and it would be insane if people reported lots of users. I think there should be a separate email address (rep...@lag.tv) and forwarding to not only the Admins, but the CMs or Dev Team to look at.)
    • Community Managers can change a members role to any level expect Admin
      • (Tested and works.)
Otherwise, everything looks good to go once the changes has been completed. I'm excited to see this live! Well done and thanks again, Andy and the people who assisted you, :D.

If possible in the future, I would like to help out the CMs and become a CMs if the tasks is too much to take care of (changing members' role, taking care of reports, etc.)

Hey dude, thanks for testing it out :o)

    * I've looked at your profile page and the only reason for the scroll bar is because you have a few very long words. If you put in some spaces then the browser will be able to break them up onto several lines.
    * As for the profile services it does rely on the user completing the url to their online profile. In the example of xbox live you need to enter you gamertag as setup in xbox live then it works.
    * I'm not sure the report emails are getting to Adam, I need to look into this.

I'll ask Adam regarding the CM status, it's up to him but I will put in a good word for you.

    Thanks again

    Andy

    Andy,

    * I've looked at your profile page and the only reason for the scroll bar is because you have a few very long words. If you put in some spaces then the browser will be able to break them up onto several lines. (Derp, yeah, I see that, lol. Well, I guess this could be if someone has bad punctuation. I'll mentioned the solution you gave me in case someone reports it.)
    * As for the profile services it does rely on the user completing the url to their online profile. In the example of xbox live you need to enter you gamertag as setup in xbox live then it works. (Ok, if someone reports it, I will tell them to check their url and profile to make sure they enter the correct info.)

Thanks for clearing that up. Hmm, maybe a new Profile FAQ thread should be created listing what I found and how they need to fix it.
