Announcement: Australian High Commission - Direct Aid Program Open for Funding
------------------------------ ------------
The Australian High Commission’s Direct Aid Program is now open for applications until 31 August 2018. The High Commission funds approximately 30 projects a year and each project can be valued at up to AUD60,000 (approximately 15,000,000 naira) and run for up to 2 years. Please feel free to refer any potential grantees our way and please note that we are very happy to co-fund activities with other embassies. We are currently co-funding a project with the French embassy and looking at a possible collaboration with the Japanese embassy to fund a project that requires more funding than either embassy can provide by themselves. We will open for a second round of funding early in 2019.
The Direct Aid Program (DAP) is a flexible small grants program run directly by the Australian High Commission in Abuja. The High Commission accepts project proposals from all of its countries of accreditation: Benin, Cameroon, Gabon, The Gambia, Niger and Nigeria. Applications can be submitted by both country and international offices of local and iNGOs. DAP funding is available to community groups, reputable local, international or Australian NGOs, private sector entities, academic institutions, research bodies, libraries, museums, or other organisations engaged in development activities on a not-for-profit basis.
DAP is primarily aimed at supporting small-scale sustainable development projects and activities that are participatory in nature and, preferably, which actively engage the beneficiaries in the design, development, and implementation of the project. The administrative process for DAP is conducted through an online system called Smartygrants. Application forms are available from our website: http://nigeria.highcommission. gov.au/aaja/development_ cooperat.html
